HIYA PEEPS

In the link that I posted just above, someone (kayshroom_) on Instagram was approached by a FAKE Wilbur Soot account, and the person pretending to be Wilbur approached them through their Pinterest DMs to have a conversation.
Please read the full post I linked to get all the information, but I will point out things that make this a big enough problem for me to feel as though I need to say something.

1. Impersonating a content creator/celebrity/literally anybody is illegal (in many places) and just a shitty move in general.

2. They said many weird things, which I will be listing too. The first weird thing was: "I never talk with my fans, just when there are QnAs" (then why talk to a fan? why specifically approach them, especially after already having so many people hate on you for recent drama)

3. This was just after kayshroom_ asked for proof, and they asked for them to DM them on Instagram, obviously through Wilbur's REAL account. The impersonator said: "No. Because it won't be now where I will speak with a fan in private message. Especially on Instagram or TikTok." (Obviously, this person doesn't speak English well, but even so, it still doesn't make sense. Because Wilbur had chosen to post specifically on Instagram that he is still going to be doing music.)

4. After kayshroom_ points out that it was suspicious they were unwilling to prove their identity, the impersonator said this: "Yeah but you understand that I'm mentally ill so no in fact I won't step foot on Instagram again". Thankfully, kayshroom_ continues to point out that, as I said previously, Wilbur chose to post on Instagram about his return. (also i will point out that this impersonator is using mental illness as an excuse here- which realistically, if this was the real Wilbur, that would be understandable. but this isn't Wilbur, so saying you're mentally ill, then using it as an excuse, AS Wilbur... that's just shitty.)

5. kayshroom_ asks what they want to talk about, the impersonator's response was: "Well since you're on my side well I wanted to talk to you". (This being problematic because if they tried this on someone younger and/or more naive, they would likely believe them, and that could lead to many shitty things. Them saying "i wanted to talk to you" is suspicious because it's just creepy and predatory, especially if they were anyone famous.)

6. The impersonator continued that with "Do you want to get to know each other?". Which, in my eyes, has a tone of someone being interested romantically. It's something one would say to someone they're interested in, like asking the cute waitress at the cafe you visit every day. Most people don't use that kind of language and tone when they just want to be friends. (And again, someone famous asking this to a fan is predatory af.)

7. The impersonator asked kayshroom_ what country they lived in. This isn't necessarily creepy under normal circumstances, but again, the impersonator is acting as someone famous, which makes this question come off rather creepy, even if they're not asking for a specific state/county/town. When kayshroom_ answered, the impersonator responded with "Very good", which just comes off really creepy to me, as well. While others may not find that creepy, I find it odd, especially because they continued that up with praising the country that kayshroom_ answered with. (Thankfully, kayshroom_ was basically trolling them at this point.)

8. The impersonator asks "Did it bother you that I bite people?" and when kayshroom_ answers, (paraphrased down to: "i did it as a kid, and feel like i would do it affectionately to my partner when I'm older"), the impersonator said "aww like me" in response. Their initial question feels very odd to ask, and I personally feel as though it contradicts previous statements from this person, like their implications of severe trauma from the drama, hence why they wouldn't touch Instagram. I just feel like if you were traumatized by something like that, why would you initiate talking about it, especially with a stranger online? Their response to kayshroom_'s answer reads very creepily to me as well, because the 'aww' was unnecessary and feels rather predatory, and the "like me" also condtradicts previous statements, as I said before.

There is obviously more to their conversation, but that's why I urge ya'll to go read it for yourselves. I tried to copy down everything word for word, and I would look deeper into it, but I'm worried about getting myself stuck in another depressive state (bad mental health recently- which is a big reason I haven't been writing often as well), so I try to avoid mostly anything to do with that drama. Just too stressful for me.

Moral of the story: just watch out for impersonators, in general. No matter who they're impersonating, please just remember that no celebrity or youtuber would actually want to be your friend, mostly because REASONABLE adults would understand that it's predatory. (unless they're a predator... in that case, please alert authorities before taking it to twitter and tell trusted adults who can help handle the situation)
