Chapter 3: The Past

Let's get down to today's chapter

Julia tossed her phone onto the bed beside her and sighed, staring up at the ceiling, As she lay there in the quiet of her room, thoughts of Marco filled her mind like an uninvited guest. His smile, the sound of his voice, the way he had looked at her earlier that evening-all replayed themselves in her memory. With a sigh, Julia pushed herself up and reached for her phone again. She hesitated, fingers hovering over the screen. Should I text him? Julia put down her phone and stared out of the window, but then she sighs and took the phone in her hand, searching Marco in her contact, her heart was pounding and after hesitating for 10 minutes I messaged him saying "Hey, are you awake?"

Marco just got off the shower, My phone just chimed a while ago but I didn't see the message because I was reading my novel, I picked up my phone and it was Julia, "Hey, are you awake?" it's her text, I stared at it for a moment and kept my phone aside and I started smiling what! Mafias never smile Marco, get it together! I reached for my phone again and replied saying "Yeah, I am awake, What's up?" After sending the text I felt it was kind of a rude text... Ahh why did I send her a text like this? I can send her a text like this "I AM A MAFIA" and I can be rude!

I just got back message from Marco, woah he seems mad, should I text him back? No I probably shouldn't... After thinking I said to myself "I will just get to the point". I grabbed my phone and said "Are you free tomorrow?" I sent it! What have I done? Did I go crazy? Why did I ask a mafia if he is free tomorrow? Ahh I lost my mind for sure! Yeah, let's delete it! I reached my phone and as I was about to delete it "HE SAW IT" NOOO, I threw my phone away and and climbed on the bed and I wrapped the blanket around myself... I sighed heavily... There was a beep, It must be from my phone, no no no, I won't check it! But he knows that I awake and he will know that I am ignoring his message, I slowly pulled down the blanket and got off the bed to reach out for my phone, I kept my hand on my face as I slowly unlocked my phone and then I opened his text it said "Hmm I am usually not free but I will take out time for you, Why do you wanna ask me out?" Excuse me? What! Ah what do I reply to this? My face was red and my hands were shaking, I was breathing heavily but then I started typing "Ah what do you mean? I wanted to know more about mafias so I had a few questions that I want to ask you" I sent it! I got a message from him "Okay sure so you wanna know more about me? Tell me the time and place I will be there" I replied saying "Meet me at the Big Star Restaurant at 5:00 pm" He replied saying "Ok I will be waiting"

Julia just went offline, I guess she went to sleep, Anyways I got to my bed thinking about her and the messages, I suddenly realized that I have a meeting at 4:00 pm, I will wrap up the meeting quickly, and meet her tomorrow... I slowly fell asleep!

I was awakened by the alarm, Ah time to get up said Marco, I woke up make my bed, brushed my teeth, took a shower and made my way to the gym. I was doing my cardio and I felt someone had an eye on me! I picked up my dumbbells and noticed a man with a black sweatshirt and and a hat staring at me. I couldn't ignore him as I saw him, he ran! But I ignored him and made my way home, I started cooking my breakfast and yeah I love cooking it's kind of like my hobby... I made some eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, some stir fried vegetables and pancakes! To drink I made myself a cup of cappuccino. I headed out for my work after the breakfast...

It's 4:00 pm said Julia to Jasmine, I have a appointment at 5:00 pm, I need to head out, Should I pull out the car asked Jasmine... No I wanna ride my bike said Julia! I slipped into my sleek leather jacket and and made my way towards my bike! I wore my leather gloves and sat on the bike, The engine responded strongly and I gave myself a smirk, I was on my way but I felt excited and I revved up the motorcycle and now it's really fast with a strong engine sound! I reached the restaurant and parked my bike... I made my way to the reserved hall and he was there, Marco... He was there on the exact time. I was shocked myself, he turned around and gave me a smirk and told me "Hey Julia, surprised to see me early?" I chuckled softly and made my way to the table... So what is it you wanna know about me asked Marco, I don't know probably your past! Marco coughed slightly and stared at me! He looked scary....

Julia asked me a question that triggered me! I stayed calm and stared at her, and said, are you really sure? she said yeah I am sure! Then hear my past but then you also have to say about your past. Julia said "yeah why not?"

I had a traumatic childhood said Marco, I listen him carefully and he continued, When I was born a lot of people tried to kill me, WHY? I would prefer not to talk about that! Oh come on tell me, He gave a slight sigh and continued, When I was born a priest came looked at me and said I will be unlucky for my parents and my relatives, he said that there will be no happiness whenever I am around someone, one day when it was my 5th birthday I went to that priest to ask something but he expelled me out and after 2 hours people were saying that he's dead... All people started blaming me for being unlucky and I am a murderer, people threw rocks at me wherever I went... I was fed up with this kind of life so I tried to kill myself, but then my older brother saw me and topped me from doing it, he was the only one person I could trust and I loved him a lot, my parents started to fight and I was sick of it, they planned to hand me over to the orphanage, I was in the orphanage till I was 18 after that I started working and I took a place to stay, my brother often visited me, until one day a mafia killed him! WHAT? said Julia... yeah a mafia killed him because he tried to stop him from harming others, my brother filed a lawsuit against them but one day they beat up my brother took him in a open area and shot him 5 times until he was dead... And the mafia who killed my brother is one of the biggest mafia in the world but his identity is hidden no one knows it! Their group name is The "Silver Fangs". The reason I became a mafia is to find him and punish him for killing my brother! I see tears in Julia's eyes and I say her "Come on stop I don't like people crying, now smile". Okay I am done with mine tell me yours said Marco

Okay so there's no such past for me only few memories I guess! I still want to hear it said Marco. Then hear it, I was having a happy family time but after few years my parents started having differences and they used to fight almost everyday, that's when I started doing part time jobs as cleaner, waiter, even online jobs just to stay away from home... One day my parents took the decision to have a divorce and my custody was gone to my mother, I grew up with her but when I was 15 she passed away so my dad took care of me but when I was 18 my dad married a woman and she used to treat me like garbage so I left home with no where to live, I found a job and took a flat on rent... Everything started getting better in high school! I got hopes from someone! WHO asked Marco, I smiled and said my high school crush! He was the sweetest, we were close friends he gave me all the trust that no one gave me before... So did you confess your feelings to him asked Marco with a weird smile, umm about that I never told him about my feelings, but the way he used to look at me, I was sure he liked me... (Marco's hands tightened into fists for a moment) I kind of regret it that why I didn't confess to him anyways this is my past said Julia...
