Prologue

I was speed-walking back to my house on Elm Street in a worried whirlwind of haste. It wasn't easy as I was in a long dress and four-inch heels all with my graduation cap and gown flowing overtop.

I stood in the doorway with a look of horror on my face. My parents and little brother had missed my graduation and they'd never do something like that so I knew something must be wrong.

And god was I right.

There, in the middle of the floor, lay the mangled and burn scarred corpses of my beautiful mother, my kind father, and my baby brother.

I should be in tears right now but I'm not, I'm confused.

Why?

Because although their bodies were burnt to a crisp, the rest of my home was in perfect condition.

It's unexplainable. Impossible.

How is it that my parents burned alive in a house that was never on fire?

I take another look at them and feel the tears and pain start to rise in my body. I crumple to the ground next to them and stroke what's left of my mother's hair and father's face. I can't look at my brother, it was too much.

Soon after, I must have fallen asleep next to them because I don't know when or how, but when I wake up?

I'm on the road in a car I don't recognize with loud rock music blaring through the old speakers. Two boys are sitting in the front and the one in the driver's seat turns around and gives me a cheeky smile.

"Mornin' Sunshine." His voice is deep and raspy, as if either used to scream a lot or not talk at all. I try to open my mouth and speak, but when I do, I find that I can form no coherent words. All that came out was a silent wail and the guy in the passenger seat looks back at me with a guilty expression.

"Dean, leave her alone," The passenger man says to the driver - Dean, I guess. The car stops at a red light and I jolt forward after rolling out of the seat.

"Ugh! Perfect, just what I need." I scoff and then realize I'd just spoken for the first time in fourteen hours.  I'm feeling really dizzy and I begin to sway.

"She speaks!" Dean chortles and the passenger man smacks him on the back of the head. I let out a snort. "What was that for?!" Dean fusses.

"She's just lost her family Dean, now is not the time for jokes." I'd almost forgotten about that. My family is dead.

"Sam, we lost Mom and Dad too," I guessed they were brothers because Dean had implied that they shared parents. Sam looked shocked at his brother's ignorance and slapped him again.

"Um, if you don't mind me asking, who the hell are you two? And why did you basically kidnap me?" I interrupted, and the boys turned around to face me after I'd finally gotten myself upright.

"I'm Sam Winchester," The guy in the passenger seat says. "And this is Dean, my idiot brother." Dean looks offended and I give Sam a small smile. "We picked you up because someone needed to get you out of that house, it's too dangerous now."

"I'm Taylor, Taylor Kingsley by the way,"

"We know." They say and I narrow my eyes.

"Okay, that's not creepy at all." Dean rolls his eyes and I ask the question burning in the back of my mind."Why is it dangerous?" Dean gives Sam a look and Sam nods.

"We'll explain later," Dean states.

"I don't know whether to thank you or be terrified of you," I say half joking, half serious.

"Oh Sweetheart, probably both," Dean says smugly and that is the last thing I hear before passing out once again.
