The integration into the community the group have built is not an easy one. Ayla has not had the same amount of time to build relationships as everyone else has. It seems that everybody has already formed connections with the people closest to them and they stick closely to each other.
Rick and Lori seem to have their own issues surrounding them - Ayla overhead them arguing late at night over God knows what during the days she slept at Carl's bedside. Glenn and Maggie have began to spend all their time together because of whatever romance is brewing between them. Andrea seems to be following Shane around due to some need to impress him which keeps Dale busy worrying about her - and rightfully so. T-dog seems to be becoming closer with the Greene family as he often helps out around the farm in any way he can. The stragglers are Carol and Daryl. The former spending all her time worrying herself sick over where her daughter is and the latter spending all his time attempting to find the daughter in mention.
This means that Ayla hasn't really had a chance to talk to anybody except from Carl. She's had a few little chats with most people but nothing that's made her feel like they've grown closer. Everyone seems to have other things on their minds. Even Glenn seems to be sweating and stuttering more than usual lately.
At least she has Carl.
The duo usually spend most of their time exploring the fields around the farm - being careful not to stray too far from camp but also still taking small risks by travelling further than they are technically allowed. When they are out in the fields they discuss whether Sophia will come back or not. It's been over three days since she went missing by this point and they have both lost any hope of her return. However, this does not stop them from brainstorming places she could be or ideas on how to save her.
They are lying on their backs in the field, gazing up at the warm sun when they hear it. A loud gunshot echoes across the farm and the birds scatter from their hiding places in the trees. Carl and Ayla only hesitate for a millisecond before they are running in the direction of the resounding bullet.
The sound seems to originate from the RV and so they head straight towards it. Once they reach the RV, they are met with the sight of Andrea and Dale sprinting towards Rick and Shane who are carrying an injured Daryl in between them.
"What happened?!" Carl exclaims as they jog over to the group.
Andrea shakes her head in what looks to be shock. "I-I shot him." She whimpers.
Ayla's head fills with worry. "You shot him?!" She says with confused exasperation. "Well is he going to be alright?"
Rick nods his head. "It's just a graze but let's get him to Hershel to be sure."
