Sydney's POV —

"HI DOLL, YOU okay?" I hear Samantha shout from beside me, snapping me out of my trance and making me force my eyes to the red head girl strutting infront of the two boys.

"Hello!" The girl replies, her arms opening to welcome Samantha into a hug before moving to me, greeting us both and letting us know her name is Patsy — to which we both reply with our names.

The next person i greet is a guy called Ronnie, whose accent is thickly cockney which i hear as he compliments me in the greeting.

The last person i greet still has his eyes lingering on me although mid hug with Jess. Once they move away from eachother, i make my approach. "Hi, i'm Sydney." I say, my voice, although full of nerves, comes out smooth and confident.

"Hiya, i'm Ciaran." He says, his Welsh accent thick through his words. As i near him, his arms automatically open, as do mine to welcome each other in a hug. When we pull away, my hands linger on his sides as do his on my hips as i stand up further on my toes to reach his cheek to kiss as he leans down to reach mine. "You are absolutely gorgeous."

I laugh lightly at his words of affirmation. "Thank you — you're not too bad yourself."

After everyone had greeted everyone, we all went to sit on the large sofa situated towards the back of the villa's garden.

Once everyone had sat down, me sat inbetween Patsy and Sam, Ayo began the questions. "Whats your type then?" He asks to none of the new people in particular.

"My type- I dont know, it used to be... i used to love blonde girls with massive boobs." Ronnie says, his eyes slightly squinting due to the sun.

At this, a smile arises onto Samantha's face, knowing she fits that category. "Look at her face!" Nicole teases.

"Cheers to that." Samantha says, raising her champagne glass, causing the golden sparkles of the glass to shimmer in the blaring sun. Everyone laughs at her before she speaks up again. "Well my type is tall, dark and cockney but..."

"Go on, i've got a question for everyone then, longest relationship, how long did it last?" Ciaran asks the group.

"Uh, well my last relationship was about a year and a half ago and i think we were together for about like... 3 years almost maybe?" I say, drinking the last of the champagne contents in my glass, lifting my leg to let it rest over the other one, crossing them.

"You don't sound too sure on that one like." Ciaran replies with a small chuckle, adding the infamous "Like." it seems is engraved into every Welsh persons vocabulary.

I laugh before replying, "Yeah, well it's definitely 3 years i want to forget."

"What? Tell us more!" Jess butts in, leaning forward to look at me.

"He was just a dick." I reply bluntly while shaking my head slightly, not wanting to get into my past relationship with people who i have just met, but i'm sure i'll blurt it out to everyone eventually.

After a little while longer of back and forth conversation amongst us all, we hear two more people entering the villa. We all quickly arise from our seats to go and greet them, learning that their names are Munveer and Harriett.

To have enough space, we all move back to the firepit to get to know more about everyone.

"Wait guys, guys i have an idea." Harriett speaks, her tone high in her Brighton accent. "Why don't we go around and everyone says their biggest ick."

Everyone agrees to the idea, all heads around the firepit now pointing at Patsy who is sat next to me at the end.

"Mummys boys. I don't mind a little bit of a mummy's boy but when you think like 'how can i even compete with your mother' like, who do you want to be with, me or you mum?" Is Patsy's answer.

"Um, mine is annoying cause so many boys do it," I begin when Patsy looks at me, signalling for me to give my answer. "but its when they put kisses on the ends of their messages, especially when its more than one, like, nothing cringes me out more than reading a message from a boy that ends with ex ex ex ex ex." My face morphs into a slight grimace.

"Really? I love it." Harriett speaks from a few people away.

"Nah, i think it's rank." I say with a small laugh, my free hand which isn't carrying my wine glass moving up to my mouth.

Before Mimii speaks her answer, from across the firepit, i hear a welsh accent speak quietly, "Good thing i dont do that i'nit." Ciaran says, his face angled towards Ayo as if whispering to him although saying it loud enough for everyone to hear.

After everyone says their answer, as if on cue
— which it most likely was — the sound of heels clicking against the pavement enters everyone's ears, making excitement corse though our veins. There's only one person this could be as all 14 islanders are already in the villa. Maya Jama.

As she approaches the firepit, all attention goes onto her. "Hello everyone, welcome to Love Island." Maya greets in a chirpy voice. "I think we should have a little game to get things going, you up for that?"

Everyone replies with "Yes"'s and "Yeah"'s.

"Okay then, follow me and we'll split into boys and girls."

Let the games begin.
