It all started with dreams. Well, it ended with them too. And most of the in-between. But, just considering the other ways it could have gone, I won't complain. Not even a single protest. I enjoy this story quite a bit. I guess I could even describe it as... life-changing. You may not notice at first, for some, maybe not at all. But if you trust me, take my hand, and let's take this journey together. Are you ready?
Venus jolted awake, her heart thumping and sweat dripping down her face. She frantically looked around, as if searching for something. Her eyes fixed on a corner of her bedroom. Her sea-green eyes seemed to darken, glowering at the corner. Without looking away, she reached for an object on the nightstand beside her bed. Her fingers waltzed around, eventually finding and grabbing hold. She quickly swung her arm before her, revealing the gun to the corner.
A small shuffling sound arose, seeming to be nervous under the pressure of the gun. As Venus's eyes adjusted to the darkness in her room, she could start to see the silhouette of a person. She squinted, trying to see clearer. "Who are you?" She muttered, barely loud enough for the silhouette to hear. There wasn't a verbal response but, in its place, a small thud. "I know what you're going to do," she continued, " You have a knife, and if that doesn't work, a gun. You were hired to get rid of me. So, tell me. Who?"
Whoever was in the corner didn't reply but they took a small step forward. Venus inched her finger closer to the trigger, ensuring the silhouette would see. She stood up, turning a lamp on, but never taking her eyes off of the 'target'. The room lit up, revealing the silhouette. A tall figure, maybe 6'2. They were wearing a hooded cloak, which hid their face. "Who the fuck hired you?" She yelled out.
Venus eased towards the cloaked figure, her fingers trembling around the gun. "What do you want from me?" Still, the silhouette remained silent. She cried out one final time "I am not afraid to do it. Tell me. Who are you and what do you want from me?" He tried to take another step before a loud blast was heard. She shot him, but when she looked down at her gun and up at where he once was, but he wasn't there. All that remained was a knife that he had firmly grasped.
