I yawn as my alarm goes off and I smile at how good my day was yesterday.

I think Riley actually likes me. He said I could sit with him and Jake anytime I wanted to and I think I might take him up on that offer.

I continue to smile to myself as I walk to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror.

As soon as I lay eyes on myself I sigh.

Riley couldn't like this. He's probably just pitying me.

Tear start to well up in my eyes and I find something to wear, looking at my scarred arms.

I rub my fingers over the lines and scabs before grabbing a black sweater and checkered leggings.

Looking in the mirror again, I part my hair and apply mascara in the hopes of possibly looking less ugly.

"Mom!" I about as I walk out of my room, "I think I'm going to walk to school."

My mom looks at me in surprise, "Are you sure, honey?"

"Yea," I say start towards the door.

"Are you gonna eat?"

"I'm not hungry," I say even though I am, I'm just too upset to eat anything.

"Okay, sweety. Have a ni-" I shut the door before she could finish and begin my long walk to school.

I keep my head down as I walk and keep trying to think of a reason Riley could like me.

"Hey Skye!" I hear someone call and I look up as a familiar car drives up to me.

"Hey," I say, looking at Riley through the window he rolled down.

"You need a ride?" He asks smiling.

"I can walk, thank you," I say.

He just feels bad for me.

"I don't think so," he frowns and leans over to open the door, "get in."

I hesitantly sit in the passenger seat and Riley heads toward the school.

"Your sitting with us at lunch, right?" Riley asks after a few minutes of silence.

"What do you care?" I mumble then feel myself being jerked forward and thrown back on the seat.

I look over at Riley, who is gkaring out the front of the car, with wide eyes when I realized that he slammed his brakes.

"Riley?" I ask when the car still doesn't move.

He looks at me and I can tell he's angry, "I care," is all he says before he takes off again, not saying a word to me for the rest of the ride.

My heart was pounding the whole way, afraid of what he'd do next, but I stay silent until we pulled up to the school and had gotten out of the car.

"Riley?"

"Yea," he pauses from his walk to the building and turns around.

"A- are you mad?" I stutter.

"Mad? At what?" He asks taking a step toward me in confusion.

"Mad at me?" I look down at my shoes, afraid of what the answer may be.

I feel something touch my chin, lifting my head up and realize Riley closed the gap between us and was making me look him in the eyes.

"I couldn't stay mad at you if I wanted to," he smiles.

"B-but why n-not?" My heart rate speeds up and my stomach starts to turn as he answers.

"Because, Skye. I like you," he says and places his lips on mine.

I close my eyes as I move my lips with his in slow movements. I reach my arsm up and wrap them around his neck as he places his hands on my hips. I can feel all the sincere care and emotion in the way he holds me and I smile.

He pulls away smiling too, "Ready for school?" He asks and grabs my hand, linking his fingers through mine.

I moan, "Please don't make me go."

I hear him laugh and I look up at him wondering how someone so beautiful could want someone so not.

Sitting at lunch with Skye for the second time is one of the best choices I've ever made. She actually seems happy and I love watching her smile and laugh at Jake's jokes. I can tell she's happier and honestly, I am too.

"So," Jake begins, "You and Riley should come to my house after school. We could hang out and have some snacks and maybe do homework or something."

I nod and look at Skye for an answer, but she just looks away disappointedly and huffs, "I have uh, therapy."

Shit! I forgot about that!

I can tell Jake is thinking the same thing because he freezes with wide eyes that tell me he's mentally beating himself up.

I sigh and look back at Skye, "I was actually wondering if you would like me to drive you there?"

She doesn't look at me but nods in agreement.

"Why was the tomato blushing?!" Jake blurts out, making Skye jump and look up with a very confused look on her face and I laugh.

"Because... It's red?" She guesses.

"Because he saw the salad dressing!" Jake grins from ear to ear and Skye giggle.

"You're such a cheese ball," she says still giggling and Jake and I burst out laughing.

"What?" I laugh, "What did you just say?" I can't stop laughing.

"Did you just call me a cheese ball?" Jake can't stop either.

She looks at us as if we should know what she meant, "Yes. A cheese ball. Like, your jokes are cheesy," she smiles then starts laughing with us.

I look at Skye as she laughs and I see how far she's come in only a few days and then she stops and looks down at her hands, frowning. I look closer and can see her eyes watering, not crying but about to. Then she sniffs and looks back up with a smile. Not the real smile I see when Jake tells stupid jokes, but the fake one she puts on for everyone to see.

I sigh and finish my food as the bell rings to go to class, "Have a good rest of the day," I smile at her, "Meet me at my car after school."

She nods and we part ways.

"Man. She is so into you!" Jake says and I shove him, laughing.

I smile, taking one look back at Skye then walking to class, waiting for the end of the day.
