however, you couldn't say the same for misaki. she was rather in deep thought. staring off into space you could say. except she wasn't looking into the far distance. she was looking something way closer to her. natsuo. more specifically, natsuo who was way too immersed in the book that laid in front of him to notice her obvious staring.
she studied his features well. his chiseled yet soft face. his rounded eyes that held those grey eyes. his white locks that spiked up. she hardly ever got to see his stoic face so close. he rarely her showed this straight, kind of serious look. he always smiled and it seemed like he genuinely enjoyed himself when he was around her.
misaki noticed he grew tired though. by the way his hand held up his head from falling and his droopy eyes that were about to close any minute now.
"natsuo." he perked up at the sound of his name but was still glued to his book, "huh?" he replied still not moving his attention to misaki.
she sighed waiting a few more minutes to take a look at him. he was so glued to the book he had forgotten that she even called out to him. "natsuo." she whispered once more in an attempt to gain his attention.
"what's up mi-" he turned around pausing midsentence as he realized their faces were too close for comfort. with their noses about to touch the both of them became wide-eyed.
natsuo backed off feeling the heat rise to his face. "i-uh-what did you want to ask?" he rubbed the back of his neck disconnecting eye contact with the girl sitting beside him.
"it's nothing. you can get back to reading." she waved her hands shooing him back to the book he was once glued on. only now he couldn't help but not focus on the words he was so easily into a few minutes before.
misaki on the other hand was back to focusing on the subject she had done prior. natsuo. honestly, she could care less about the test. she already studied for it last night and was prepared to take the test, but she couldn't turn down a chance to hang out with her favorite guy.
so here she was back again staring at natsuo. except now he was a little more aware about it, taking a little glance at misaki every now and then. she studied his face once more. chiseled yet soft face. rounded eyes that held those grey eyes. white locks that spiked up. lips that looked so kissable right now.
a new thought popped up into misaki's head, "can i kiss you?" she asked daringly getting natsuo's attention right away, "what!" he stood up abruptly hitting his legs against the table above them and then forcefully sitting back down only to miss his chair.
he swiftly stood up clearing his throat and taking his seat back as if he didn't just make a fool of himself in front of his crush. "i take that as a no then?" she giggled as she watched him get flustered, something she enjoyed seeing.
"no! i mean-yes! i don't mean like no you can't because like you totally-" he stumbled on his words, but she cut him off taking his face in her hands, cupping his face and closing the distance between them.
the kiss was nothing special. or what it seemed like on the outside. it was short and simple, but it was everything but that to natsuo and misaki.
misaki pulled away with a smile plastered on her face, her arms locked around natsuo's neck as they looked into each other's eyes, natsuo with a face as red as a tomato. "sometimes you say way too much, natsu." she laughed biting her lip.
