A/n: I have been gone for a while but I'm back with a very long chapter. Hope you like it <3

"Luke! Jace!" A young girl whisper-yelled.
The two boys stood idly next to their uncles during lessons.

"Rhae?" Jace asked quietly.

"Come on!" She reached for her brother's hands and pulled them after her.

"Our sibling needs a dragon egg." She looked at the two boys.
"Father said we would all go together after the babe was born." Luke reminded her.
"Luke! It's your turn to choose an egg. And besides I don't want to wait."
"Rhae, we should wait for Father."

Rhae sighed.

"It could take hours, Jace." She whined.
Her older brother thought for a moment.

"Fine. But only because I also don't want to wait."
"Yay! I can choose?"
"Yes, Luke. Just like how Jace chose mine and I chose yours." Rhae smiled.

The siblings stood for a minute, completely still.
Until Rhae bolted and her brothers ran after her.

...

Edric was holding Rhaenyra's hands once more as a midwife approached him.

"My lord, it's about your children." She whispered to him.

"What is she saying," Rhaenyra asked instantly.
"It's about your children, your Grace."

Rhaenyra stiffed.

"My love, I will deal with this."
"Edric." Her hold on his hand tightened.
"Don't worry." He smiled.

He kissed her head and turned to the midwife.

"If anything happens, find me. Do not let anyone else in. Not even the king." He commanded.

The midwives know better than to question him.

...

Edric knew where to find his children.
The dragon pit.

"Now whose idea was this?" His voice scared the children.
"Rhae?"

"Father-"
"My love, we will talk about this later. I need to go back to your mother."
"I picked an egg for the babe."

Edric smiled.

"I can see that." He touched Luke's face.
"My princes, my princess, walk. You two are to rejoin your lessons." He looked at his sons.
"And you, Lady Arryn, will find your septa and apologise."

He began to walk.
Edric grasped Rhae's hands. She was prone to run away.

"I don't like Septa's. I don't like the faith."
Edric laughed loudly.
"Your mother hated her septa too and the conquerors, at least Visenya, hated the faith too-"
"-But it's the order of things. I have to be a follower of the faith so I don't anger them."

Rhae, their eldest daughter, looked like Edric but possessed Rhaenyra's spirit.
She was a wild, untameable and messy girl just like her mother at her age. But both of them were incredibly intelligent. They understood the order of things, even if they liked to challenge them.

"We have to be followers of the Faith. All of us." Jace reminded her.
"The three, soon four, of us are the future of the realm."

Jace, their eldest, had his colouring but his face was all Rhaenyra. Jace, like Edric, was more quiet than loud. He knew his duty now and that the Realm would need him in the future. Jace worked hard, hard to become the King he wanted to be. And already at 10, he showed great promise.
