Amirah's heart raced as she opened the box, revealing a sleek, black invitation card with silver font:
"The Game of Life
You have been selected to participate in a unique adventure.
Meet us at the old oak tree in the town square at midnight.
Come alone.
-The Game Masters"
Amirah's mind raced with questions. What game? Who were the Game Masters? And why her?
Sofia's eyes widened as she read the card over Amirah's shoulder. "This is crazy! What are you going to do?"
Amirah hesitated, her curiosity piqued. "I don't know...part of me wants to ignore it, but another part wants to know what this game is all about."
As they stood there, the invitation seemed to burn a hole in Amirah's hand. She felt an inexplicable pull, as if her destiny awaited her at that old oak tree.
"Amirah, be careful," Sofia warned, as if sensing her friend's temptation.
But Amirah's mind was already made up. She would go to the meeting, if only to satisfy her curiosity.
