When your eyes were once again met with light, it wasn't just light, it was life. Beautiful summer court joy. Though it did not reach the bubble you kept around yourself, your face pale with anticipation. You looked out onto the waves, the glorious water you'd grown up prancing about in. Certain faces recognised your own but confusion washed over them as they looked you over in your night court attire and the Illyrian behind you, blending into your shadow. You begun walking up to the beach stalls that looked onto the water, knowing it was where your friends would undoubtedly be.

"Me and my friends, Magnolia and Thalia, have a stall," you explained to Azriel, close behind you. "Please wait outside."

He gave you a soft smile as you entered the stall. You recognised each of the scents your nose was met with but the atmosphere was different with the slight bitterness on your tongue. Your friends immediately turned and stared. You broke the silence,

"I have come here to say that I will no longer be working here, I'll be in the night court, it's undecided whether it's permanent or not."

"How formal," said Thalia with a soft chuckle, which you met with one of your own.

"Well I didn't know how to approach this situation so-" you started.

"So you decided to treat us like you haven't spent everyday with us for the last 70 years?!" Magnolia interrupted.

"Well I suppose-" you begun again.

"You supposed you'd find an excuse good enough to explain why you screamed at me before storming off and leaving us to worry all night about where you were after your Mum told us you weren't home last night? We were worried sick y/n," she continued, her voice raising with each word, although her tone softened at the end.

You wouldn't let yourself be spoken to like this.

That was your excuse as you started yelling,

"I stormed off because I've had enough of your shit, Magnolia," you rarely addressed her by her full name, you usually settled for a light hearted nickname. You could tell your words had hit but still, your poison-laced lecture continued,

"You both watched day after day as my personality drained. You know that something happened on my 120th and yet not one comforting word came my way. I needed my best friends for fucks sake!" you yelled. "I was found by a stream passed out, even a total fucking stranger could see that I'm not okay! You being 'worried sick' is the first I've heard any affection from you both in as long as I can remember." You met Magnolias softened face with a rage filled glare of your own. "Although I've spent the last 70 years here, a point in time came where I had become as good as a fucking ghost," you spat as you left, slamming the door, leaving a painful ringing echoing through you as  you begun another painful stride toward your mothers work. You didn't have to look backward to know the Illyrian was close behind you. You could tell by the shadow that gently brushed your arm reassuringly.
