MP5 on the floor. My feet, next to him now. Knees on the floor. His head in my hands.
"Enzo? I don't understand. Did I just-"
He's cold. Warmth gone.
His body is heavy in my arms. He's too heavy in my arms. Pulling his head into me. Squeezing. Hoping.
This isn't real.
I can't let go.
Let go and he's really gone.
You weren't supposed to be here Enzo. Why were you here Enzo?
Pierced my own ear. I can't hear. I can't hear the music from the ballroom. Just myself. My scream echoing.
Screaming. Crying. Enzo. Dead. Screaming. Crying. Enzo. Dead.
Every memory plays in my head. Our engagement. Our plans. The endless conversations of our kids. His eyes. Every moment spent together. How could he be? I don't understand.
"Ms. Creed. Did you finish the mission?"
I finally look up to see Mr.Blood. I look back at Enzo. Cold in my hands. Hoping for a miracle.
"I aimed for the head Marshall. Why did I aim for his head?"
"Because we needed him dead. Now he is. You should be celebrating." He says as he calls the cleanup crew.
In my head, Mr.Blood isn't here. It's just me and Enzo. For these last couple minutes I have before they take him away. There's no stopping them. I know this all too well. I've been here before with my family. Snatching them away from you if you don't let go. I want this to be peaceful, to get some sort of peace that we had wished for together.
What about our future together? What happened to peace? What happened to us having kids? Us waking up in the morning, side by side.
All I can do is hold him close, kissing his head and placing my head on his lips where familiarity strikes.
I love you Enzo. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. Say it back. Please just say it back.
"Ms. Creed!" I hear Mr.Blood yell out.
I look up again, the cleanup crew in front of me. Picking him up. I reach for his hand, but Mr. Blood grabs my shoulder.
I stand and walk out, out of the room. Out of the ballroom, past all the muffled people. Past all blurry lights. Into my car.
I don't understand.
Driving off to the garage where the Ladies in Red are.
Same old process. Getting there. Parking. The elevator.
I want this to be over. I want to go home. I want to see Enzo. I want to be with Enzo.
"Congratulations Ms.Creed. You successfully killed the Red Scorpion."
"I did what you asked. Can you give me the money and allow me my freedom?"barely understanding the words coming out of me.
They send Elias to walk to me and hands me a case.
"Four million, as promised. Freedom as you wish it, but is there really any point in that?"
I look up to them in confusion.
"After all, your lover man is dead isn't he? Because of you."
"What?" the world spinning.
"We should really get going now, but we do wish you the best. Thank you for your service, but we don't need you anymore. Well except for one last thing. Take the fall. No way for you to prove your innocence." They start to leave with the same damn blank expressions they always carry.
They knew. They knew. They Knew.
"You son of a-" I start to say as I almost dash to them, but guns point in every direction.
I hear the sirens in the distance.
Once they leave, the minions follow, leaving me and the sirens close by.
Enzo, I need you. I need you right now. It's their fault.
It's all their damn fault.
Enzo, I swear on your life, I find them and they're dead.
