"JESUS CHRIST, Alexa!" Taylor protested over the phone. "You know, this is why the doctor didn't wanna clear you to go outside after getting out of that IV!"
Let's back it up a little. Two days after the writing session and fire fiasco in her mom's apartament, Alexa was free from the IV supporter. So, when her mom flew to Mexico to start The Eras Tour again, she invited Courtney -who was miraculously in town- to visit her. They watched movies, baked cookies and when they decided to have a karaoke competition, Alex may have exaggerated a little bit on her performance, which means she slipped on the coffee table and fell ribs-first, reopening the healing wound on her ribcage.
"How bad is it?" Taylor asked, probably getting her makeup done as she would be getting on stage in a few hours.
"It's not that bad, okay? I'm home again, I just had to get it stitched." the younger explained with a groan, lying on the couch in the same position so she wouldn't feel any pain.
"Stitched again, you mean." Alex rolled her eyes at her mom's words. "Look, I'll be on stage in two hours and tomorrow I'll catch a flight first thing in the morning, got it?" she said, determined.
"You don't need to do that–"
"I do, okay? You're my daughter, no matter how-- clumsy you are." her voice softened and Alexa grinned at the phone. "Just don't have anyone else over, okay?"
"Yeah, I got it." she scoffed.
"I gotta go, don't break any more ribs. I love you."
"Love you too, bye." she said before hanging up the phone and finally changing her position on the couch. Alex turned on the TV, putting on a random episode of Modern Family to help her fall asleep, the infallible technique proving its value a few episodes later, when the girl was already falling deep into sleep.
