THE BEEP OF the heart monitor placed by Alexa's bed was driving the girl completely and utterly insane day by day. It was nerve wrecking enough to wake up to the news that you just had an accidental overdose and almost died for the second time in your life. Alexa remembered almost nothing from that night three days ago, the only clear thing she remembers is taking an LSD and kissing Ella.

And then it all became a mix of what was real and what the hallucinogen made her see. She sort of remembers seeing Gracie's reflection in the mirror, and the cut on her right eyebrow confirmed that the memory of her headbutting a random dude was very real. She remembers calling Gracie too, the girl bringing her home and putting her to bed. But she was there, wasn't she? She was there with Alexa when she woke up with a killing headache, remembering she didn't take her controlled medicine the night before. She remembers seeing Gracie soundly asleep in her bed, a small wrinkle in between her eyebrows as she frowned in her sleep, she vividly remembers having that view before going into the bathroom and not turning on the lights ‐scared of waking up the oldest‐, the darkness mixed up with her stoned state making her brain confuse her dosage and probably causing the accidental overdose.

Swift was lucky she didn't wake up to her mother's face or else she would've really lost it. Instead, she woke up to the puppy brown eyes of Courtney, her gaze so fixated on the girl's face it almost burned holes through her skin. The older woman's eyes were red and the skin of her lip was worn out from all the stress and anxious biting ‐a bad habit she had‐, she looked like she just dropped everything to be there for Alexa in that moment. Unlike somebody else.

"Where's Gracie?" was the first thing that came out of her mouth, voice raspy and almost drunken, probably from the anesthesia. Courtney stared at the smaller as if she were insane, probably wondering why the fuck she was asking that ‐out of all things‐ after literally almost dying.

"I'm not sure, uh-- the person that called me just said that the girl who was with you didn't wanna come to the hospital and just asked them to call me instead." Swift felt her heart sting at the sentence just as the door was pushed open, Ella and Kevin making their way through and gasping when seeing their friend was awake.

"You're awake!" the girl was the first to talk, moving forward to give Alexa a hug before backing away and giving the boy a little space to hug his friend as well.

"What, you thought I was gone?" Alexa started with a teasing tone in her voice. "Bitch, I'm unkillable." she joked, Ella rolling her eyes and Kevin chuckling as he ran a hand through his hair.

"I'm pretty sure that word doesn't exist."

"Can you guys stop?" the brunette sitting on the side of the hospital bed said with a shaky voice, earning their attention now. Alexa frowned when she saw her friend's eyes glistening with tears.
