Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. The saying fit her to a hair. Tears ran down Alice's face. She ran her hands through her hair. Alice's breath came in short, hyperventilating breaths. Why couldn't she have died before getting there. But even then, it wouldn't have made it any better. It wouldn't change the fact that he'd lied. Again. She gripped the thin blanket covering her. It didn't matter why he had done it. He shouldn't have. It wasn't worth this. She flung her pillow across the room. Alice knew someone might hear. She hardly cared. Maybe they'd come in and tell her it was all a dream. Only one of the horror induced nightmares resounding from their horrible experiences with Infected. She wanted to scream as loud as she could. But her throat was raw. Alice pulled her knees up to her chest. She sobbed into them, rocking back and forth on her small bed. It wasn't worth it. She should have never gone with him.
