The keychains on my purse clanked together as I stepped out of my house and locked the door. Staggering around trying to balance the large load of things I was holding, I put on my sneakers and tapped the front of my shoes against the floor. Taking out my glasses, I tried to put them on while walking towards the elevator,my eyes squinting as I tried to fixate them on the steps leading down to the elevator, moisture clouding my eyes while I struggled to blink the dust particles away. It reminded of that one time when my mom asked me to cut onions and I full out burst into tears quietly. Laughing softly, I stepped down in attempt to walk towards the elevator. Or onto what I thought was the steps. Falling forward, I waved my arms frantically, trying to stop myself from falling flat on my face."AHH" I yelled as i pummeled into someone. I looked up as a pair of eyes met mine. They sparkled, like really really sparkled,  hazel brown but deep and rich like honey - looking deep into his pupils, I could see my own reflection, where my pupils were visibly growing as I stared at his eyes. "Whoa there! Are you okay?" His voice snapped me back into reality. And there he was. Tall, lean, his eyes hazel brown and strapped across his teeth were bright silver braces. Now further away and looking at his full figure, I felt a sense of familiarity rush over me. His name was Miles, I think? He lived next door. I've seen him a couple times and smiled at him in greeting and he always smiled back. We were in some of the same classes too, and to be frank, I always felt like it was a pity that we weren't friends. Having someone to walk home with several days seemed like a luxury, compared to walking around alone without anyone to talk to.

"I'm fine, thanks" I smiled awkwardly at him, while he helped me to my feet and picked up my glasses, which had fallen a distance away. I tried to take it from him, but he held up a hand, blocking me from MY glasses. "Uhm, I think those are my gl-" Miles lifted his eyes to look at me, and held them up, revealing the shattered glass on the right side. Squinting my eyes in frustration, I groaned and adjusted the heavy bag that sat on my shoulders. Great. What an amazing way to run into the attractive next door neighbour. Falling into him and breaking my glasses, making me look like a blind idiot. Miles frowned, noticing my struggle with the bag. "Why do you keep adjusting your bag?"I sighed and replied, the exasperation clear in my voice" I had to bring my friend's laptop and textbooks home today. She was absent and needed pictures of some things. It was a last minute decision. I'm just helpful?" Miles chuckled and reached out to grab my bag."Excuse you"I shrunk back, confused why a stranger was helping me. "School starts in an hour. We're going to get you new glasses, and you clearly need some help with that." he shrugged casually. I gaped and tried to retaliate, but he was quicker. In one swift move, he reached out and grabbed the bag off my shoulders."What a gentleman" I grinned at him. Looking down at me, he returned an identical grin.

It was autumn. Our favourite season, and there was a specific reason why it was so.

It was a tradition to gather the beautiful leaves into a pile at the playground near our condominium, and aggressively jump in together. We made it a tradition to do it on the first day of the months during the season, because Miles said and I quote,"I did it with my brother when I was young and he wanted me to feel young again."

We raked the leaves together while throwing bunches of them at each other, having to sweep them back together again to repeat it in a cycle, we laughed until our stomachs hurt and our heads were dizzy."You're amazing"Miles whispered to me as we laid down on the huge pile of leaves."Turning to him, I saw his gaze soften when i whispered back "Thanks to you" I laughed and looked back into the blue, blue sky. I knew I was blushing, but I could feel the stars in my eyes. I hope things never change. Walking towards the building, I could feel Miles staring at me. Turning my head, I playfully punched his shoulder, and he laughed, throwing his head back and I did the same.

"Hey"

"Yea?"

"Have I ever told you that you were beautiful?"

Stopping in my tracks, I stared at him quizically, and he fell into a fit of laughter watching my reaction. Watching him bend down and laugh his head off, I pushed him to the ground, and he shifted from the crouching position to sitting down.

"You can be quite an annoying bitch sometimes"

"Wow, WHAT a gentleman"

My eyes were fixated on the laptop in front of me. The hot summer day swept both me and Miles back to his house, his desk facing the floor length window that leads to the balcony which had a laptop conveniently placed on it. an my eyes stopped as I laid them on the novel that Miles was working on. Sitting on his simple wooden chair, I read the title in bold on the page. "Rarity"  Looking back to see if Miles was coming in, I took the time that Miles spent pouring a cup of water for me in the kitchen to read the first sentence.'If it weren't for her, things would have ended differently, and most likely, much earlier.' the sentence felt overwhelming for some reason, it felt like- "Hey! You know that muses aren't supposed to see the work unless its finished."I turned around sharply and was met with a sarcastic Miles. "...muse?" Miles cocked his head slightly and the corner of his mouth rose, showing his cute dimple.

"You'll always be my muse"
