"I love summer" I was sprayed out on the picnic mat, my fingers brushing against Miles' every once or so. Miles didn't look over from his laptop, his fingers however, unmoving. I turned to my left, feeling amazed that this place actually existed, my eyes drifting over to the tall, vibrant green grass, the gorgeous daisies littered all over the grassland. It was the type of place in movies- the scenes where they run around, hair swaying everywhere, face dancing with laughter, and slight creases in the sides of their mouths from smiling to hard. The moments where it was like they were the only ones in this cruel world. It was them against the world, and nothing else mattered. I looked over at Miles. His eyes were fixated on his laptop, his box of sandwiches half-eaten and abandoned at the side. He looked focused as always, but he seemed lost somehow. How I could tell? His eyes- my favourite part of him. Confusion clouded my eyes, he was never lost, writing was his THING. Looking over at the large daisy field, a smile crept onto  my face as I sat up, opening up Miles' balled-up fist and placing his hand in mine. Miles looked up at me in surprise, just as I leaned in and whispered-"Catch me."

I got up and ran. Ran like my feet were carrying me - like my body was flying, like it was a caged bird - it was finally free. Happy and free. I could feel my ankle length sundress billowing in the wind, the movement getting more vigorous and wild as I picked up speed. I could here Miles' shouts as he chased after me, hearing the soft thumps of his feet against the field. I turn around to see him a distance away, his chest rising and falling, his face nearly expressionless, only the occasional opening and closing of his mouth to calm his breathless self. If it was anyone else, they wouldn't know, the way he didn't crack a smile, the way he scrunched his nose

"Oh he's so rude- why is he so angry all the time?" they'd say

But only I knew - he was the happiest. It was his eyes, it was always his eyes. They lit up my world, they lit up the skies, they lit up the-

before I could finish the thought, I felt two large hands snake around my waist and pick me up, causing my legs to swing  around in protest. Miles laughed and spinned around and around, my legs swinging outwards like that ONE RIDE I RODE THAT I PUKED ON.

"Enough!Enough!" Miles came to an abrupt stop and dropped me, causing me to topple backwards.

"Woah, woah. No need to fall for me this way." I hit him with the back of my elbow, giggling at his overexaggerated reaction as he doubled over - "Piss off, Milky way-" "Milky way?"  I turned around to see him wriggling his eyebrows teasingly. "Stop! It's kinda cute don't you think? You make my little solar system!"

"The you'll be my jupiter - you have the biggest place in my heart."

I felt my cheeks warming, and I just know that they were extremely red - STOP STOP. I NEED TO CONTROL MYSELF - Miles was just a friend, and there were lines I couldn't and SHOULDN'T cross - even if i wanted to.

My eyes slowly shifted down onto the patch of daisies we were standing on. Unfortunately. I gasped and stepped backwards, nearly bumping into him. "LET'S MAKE FLOWER CROWNS!" I loved daisies AND I loved crown- it was literally the perfect combination. Miles eyebrows creased at my sudden ideation but his eyes twinkled. Taking off his baseball cap, he shuffled his hair - making it messy, just the way I like and said,

"Whatever you'd like, Jupiter"

Miles

"Uh...Hi!" I looked up from my laptop, my eyes lazily drifting over to the direction of - whoever said that. I was studying in the library, like I always have, writing 'Rarity'. Standing in front of me was a girl - Sandra, Sarah ,Susan or something. I squinted my eyes a little. I think she was talking to addy before third period , that's how I recognised her. "Why are you talking to me?" She shifted her gaze around awkwardly as if in search of something before her eyes landed on a pile of books beside my laptop. Her eyes landed on the book on top of the pile, and her smile widened a little, before looking back at me, breaking the 3 seconds of silence. "You like astronomy too? What a coincidence!" My face kept expressionless, unreactive to her statement, already bored. Why is Addy's friend fucking talking to ME? Her smile drooped a little at my nonexistent reaction and plopped herself, unwelcomed into the seat directly opposite me, the seat that I saved for Addy. She giggled a little when she noticed that I was staring at the book I placed on the table that was saving the seat for Addy. What?Did she think I was looking at her? Oh please. I'd rather fork out my eyes from their  sockets than look at HER. Whatever her name was. Susan - or whatever, was twirling her straight blond hair flirtatiously around her finger, batting her stupid eye lashes at me while I typed - oblivious to the fact that there was already anger boiling deep within me.

"So, are you and Addison dating? Or just friends?" She asked, her head tipping to one side. I muttered out my answer, to which she leaned closer over the table,"What?" I leaned back a bit to widen the space between us. "I said we're just friends." I muttered again, a litte louder this time. Her whole face seemed to brighten up a bit and she sat back down, casually smothering her skirt. To my annoyance, she reached out and grabbed a book next to me. "Mind if I take this?" I nodded curtly, trying to spread the message that I just wanted her to leave. But looking over my laptop, I realised she was settled in comfortably, flipping through the book, stealing occasional glances up at me - she definitely didn't look like she was leaving soon. I wanted to demand her to leave- to get out of Addison's spot, but I was taught to be a gentleman , even if she wasn't  taking the hint. I cleared my throat,"I think I have a class, I have to go." I smiled apologetically and started gathering my books as fast as I could - WHERE IS ADDISON.

"I thought maybe you would like to-"

WHERE IS ADDISON.WHERE IS SHE.

"Are you free this saturday? Maybe we could go out and grab a dinner sometime-"

WHERE IS SHE WHERE IS SHE. WHERE IS ADDISON

"I know you're a really busy person and all but I really hope that you could - "

WHERE IS ADDISON WHERE IS ADDISON.

I looked around frantically, barely paying attention to Sally who was inching closer as she talked - but then I noticed her. Addison, obliviously walking around near the front desk, tiptoeing and squinting her eyes, trying to find where I was. I quickly swung my bag around my shoulder and took swift but quick steps towards her. She probably didn't know that my heart was palpitating at the speed of a F1 race car but- BELIEVE ME. IT WAS.

"Hey," I tried to sound nonchalant, despite the fact at how relieved I was that she was finally here. Looking over at my bag , her brows furrowed in questioning, staring at me, waiting for an explanation. "I wanted to go earlier- didn't feel like it." Addison shook her head and pointed instead, at the sulking Sarah standing beside her pulled out chair, seemingly averting Addison's gaze. I shrugged and held onto her arm- "Let's get out of here, I feel like today is an ice cream day." Her eyes lit up at the mention at her favourite dessert and nodded," Rasberry ripple?" I smiled, "Of course." Following out of the library, I stole quick glances at her and her large stupid grin, probably thinking about ice cream.

She'll probably never know but,

She's not just a friend,

She's my everything.
