LUCIANA
When we arrived at the university, the campus was already bustling with students. Sasha and I walked to our psychology class. Entering the classroom, I scanned the room, looking for any sign of the new guy.
There he was, standing by the desk at the front of the room, talking to Mr. Jordan. Xavier was tall and calm, with an air of quiet confidence. His expression was stoic, and he seemed almost detached from the lively chatter around him.
Sasha nudged me. "That's him," she whispered excitedly. "Xavier."
He suddenly looked at us sharply as if he heard us, but I doubted that because we were far away from where he was standing. Then the professor said something, and he looked back at him.
I observed him quietly, noting the way he carried himself—calm and collected, as if he was always in control. There was something enigmatic about him, a mystery that seemed to envelop him.
Mr. Jordan clapped his hands to get everyone's attention. "Class, I'd like to introduce Xavier Wells," he announced. "He'll be joining us this semester and contributing to our discussions."
Xavier gave a brief nod, his eyes scanning the room without a trace of a smile. He spoke emotionlessly, his voice steady and measured. "Hello, everyone. I'm looking forward to this class."
As he took a seat at the back of the room, I felt Sasha's gaze on me. "You should talk to him after class," she encouraged quietly.
My heart pounded at the thought, but I nodded. "Maybe," I replied, feeling a mix of curiosity and nervousness.
The class proceeded, but my thoughts kept drifting to Xavier. There was something about his reserved behavior that drew me in, making me want to understand the mystery era surrounding him.
As soon as the class ended, I had already given up on the idea of talking to him, but once I looked at Sasha she whispered, "Come on."
Only then did I know if I didn't speak to him now, she would keep nagging me for the whole day.
Students began to file out, chatting animatedly. I hesitated, watching as Xavier gathered his things, moving with a kind of deliberate precision.
Taking a deep breath, I walked over to him, feeling a rush of nerves. I raised my hand to greet him. "Hi, I'm Lu—" ... But he just walked out without even looking at me. Am I invisible? What a question of course I am and I've been always like that.
I took down my hand, feeling embarrassed. "Well, that went great," I muttered to myself, turning back to Sasha, who was watching from the doorway with an encouraging smile.
Sasha hurried over, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry about it, Luciana. He's probably just shy or in a hurry."
"Yeah, maybe," I replied, trying to shrug it off, but the sting of his dismissal lingered.
"Let's go grab some coffee," Sasha suggested, steering me towards the exit. "You can tell me all about your latest nightmare."
I signed helplessly and said "It's the same one", she looked at me surprisingly, and she always do that whenever I tell her that it's the same.
"Really?? Nothing new?" she said looking at me with a bright eyes waiting for an answer other than the usual one but what I can do? I wish I could change it too.
"Yes really, nothing new", as I said that her face gloomed cutely and looked away and I could not help it but burst out laughing, she was funny even if she did not do anything then she joined me too as we laughed together and I felt gratefully at her attempt to distract me.
As we walked away, I kept on glancing back at the classroom, where Xavier had been. Despite our less-than-ideal first encounter, I found myself wanting to know more about the enigmatic new.
For a moment, I forgot how crowded the cafeteria was. The thought of entering a place teeming with people made me anxious. What if I tripped while walking? What if someone accidentally spilt their food on me? What if something happened and I couldn't handle it?
These were silly questions, I knew, but my legs were already trembling with fear and my breath was hatching. Sasha took my hand and led me inside, reassuring me, "Stop your anxiety attack. I'm here with you, and nothing will harm you, so just relax."
Suddenly, she rose in the midst of the bustling cafeteria and placed my black jacket's cap on my head, blocking my vision. She then gripped my hand firmly, guiding me as if I were a child. Despite being blindfolded by the cap, I trusted her wholeheartedly, following her every move with closed eyes.
After a while, she went to attend a class since we have different professors most of the time, so I went to the library. It was my only refuge in university from the crowd.
I kept walking around the library until a book fallen by its own I flinched due to the high sound that that book made, I left it up to see the title but it was so dusty, so I blew on it and wiped the book.
Only then I was able to read it "Aurora Arcanum academy" I have never seen a book like before in this library, here it was a bit strange because I always come.
But the book looked quite interesting so I sat down and opened it slowly but as I turned the first page, a sharp pain shot through my finger, and a drop of blood stained the paper.
The cut was tiny but it hurts, I wiped the blood from my finger and started reading it. For some reasons it was a language that was a bit hard to read, but I did it.
I was drowning in the content of that book until a subtitle caught my whole attention, " the cursed nightmares" I wondered if I could maybe find a reason behind my nightmares, even though what I have been reading until now was a bit mysterious and close to be just a fantasy but I like it ... maybe that's why I'm curious about that mysterious guy.
Unfortunately, before I could read a word, someone slammed the book and said angrily, "Are you enjoying reading someone else's book?" Again, I felt so embarrassed. Why do I keep falling into such a situation?
I looked up toward the guy who was standing up to apologize to him, but I was taken aback when I realized it was actually Xavier.
