"I am so sorry for your loss"The mother hunched over muffling her sobs. Her husband consoled the heartbroken cries of his wife, trying his best to stop his own threatening tears to fall over and over again. The dread, the reality hitting them like a truck.
Their child was gone. It was nothing left. The moment she holded him in her arms welcoming him to this beautiful yet unpredictable nature. She knew he didn't have much time left.
The time he was born, nature decided to make the memories short. She cradled his last cries tightening around her chest. Seungwon too pulled them in his arms kissing the last remnants of their baby all over face before it was gone forever.
Both of them grieved sobbing within the four walls, surrounding the medicinal smells.
"Our son... " she choked a sob. "What.. will we say to him."
He tightened his arms around her. He didn't know what to say. Their only son, now. Waiting in his home with his grandpa to see his baby brother or sister as they didn't tell him the gender.
"Umm.." the doctor cleared her throat before speaking. She knew they needed time and privacy but it was important for them to know something else.
"I along with my team give deep condolences to both of you." she paused a second.
"I know it is difficult but I have something for both of you to be frank." she left the room for a while and returned with a blanket cradled around her arms.
Both of them blinked looking at her arms. A baby nor less than a week born, is in her arms.
"The mother couldn't afford or provide the baby financially enough and left it here two days ago without any further notice. If you are willing to take the baby as your own it will be yours."
They sucked a breathe, torn between grieving over their lost son and the new arrival of someone's else baby.
Her husband gave a knowing look. He knows that the decision was upon her to take. The doctor carefully placed the baby in her arms. With a tremble his wife traced the soft smooth skin beneath her fingers.
She looked at him and a tearful smile spreading through her eyes.
It was a gift grace by someone who knew their future that might happen. They accepted the baby as their own child. It was a second chance in their life which they never want to missed. Not anymore.
