Back at the hospital, Dr. Phana, a tall, no-nonsense physician, delivered the news with a mix of professional detachment and genuine concern. "Mr. Varain, you'll need to stay with us for a few more days. We've detected a pneumothorax caused by the airbag impact during the collision. Additionally, you've been experiencing sudden loss of consciousness, even while eating. This isn't typical post-accident behavior."
His parents, sitting anxiously at his bedside, exchanged worried glances. His mother, a petite woman with a formidable spirit, squeezed his hand. "What is pneumothorax? Is it serious, Doctor? Why is this happening?"
"Pneumothorax, or what we call a collapsed lung, is a condition where air leaks into the space between the lung and chest wall, causing the lung to collapse. This results in the sharp chest pain and difficulty breathing that Mr. Varain has experienced. Fortunately, he only has a minor pneumothorax. We hope the air will be absorbed back into his system within two or three days. For now, we will continue to observe Mr. Varain. As for his unconsciousness, we're not sure yet," Dr. Phana replied. "We've conducted an MRI to rule out any brain injury, but the results came back negative. There's no obvious reason for these episodes. We'll need to monitor Mr. Varain closely."
Rain nodded, trying to hide his frustration. "So, I'm just a medical mystery then?"
Dr. Phana offered a small, reassuring smile. "We'll figure it out, Mr. Varain. For now, we'll keep a close eye on your condition. Just hang in there."
Meanwhile, across town, Phayu finished his on-site work and returned home, greeted by Saifah and Palm, who were waiting with the anticipated report. Saifah spoke first. "Phayu, we found out who put the box on your motorcycle. It was a girl who paid the delivery guy to do it. When the delivery guy came to deliver the fried chicken last night, he saw the girl walking in front of our door. When asked, she said she wanted to confess to you but lost her nerve."
Phayu's brow furrowed. "Did he know what was in the box?"
"No, the delivery guy didn't know either," Palm added. "He just felt sorry for her and helped out."
Palm continued, "We confirmed his story with CCTV footage. The girl waited outside your place for over two hours. I've been trying to find more information about her, but so far, nothing. It's like she never existed."
Phayu sighed, the weight of recent events pressing down on him. "There's something else," Palm interjected. "Where were you on the 21st last week?"
Phayu thought for a moment before remembering. "Oh, I was with my seniors and juniors for the faculty gathering. What happened? Is it related to the note?"
Palm sighed. "I'm not sure yet how this is related, but it seems you broke several laws that day and even caused an accident near the Chula flyover."
Shocked, Phayu asked for more details. "What?! What accident? I didn't hit anyone that day. I'm sure of that."
"You didn't hit anyone, but a university student crashed into the flyover structure to avoid you. That accident caused injuries to a family nearby. And based on my research, that family is under the protection of the Stop group," Palm explained, trying to convey both the misunderstanding and the potential threat looming over Phayu.
