"We made it, we finally made it," I yelp with excitement, receiving a few looks from passer-byes, as I turn to face my sister. "Can you believe we're here?!"
She shakes her head rapidly, the excitement shining in her eyes as she looks above us at the large domed ceiling of London's finest hotel: Marriott County Hall. We're standing in the center of a mass of people. To the left of us is check-in, to the right is dining, and ahead are the elevators. The light from the falling sunset is just peaking through the dome and towering glass windows of the front entrance. It's beautiful. It's what we've been waiting for for two years. Two years of working over the summer and breaking our backs to earn enough money for this trip. I can't count how many lawns I mowed and annoying three year olds I had to watch, and my sister is still working a tan from all the time she spent working out at the stables not too far from our comfortable little home in Dayton, Ohio. Two years of anticipation and planning has led up to this day, and as we stand in a crowd of strangers, we begin our two month stay in the heart of London, England. Our plane ride lasted a good eleven hours and being excited as we were, we got absolutely no sleep whatsoever. But, could you tell? No, not in the least.
My sister grabs me by the shoulders and shakes me hard. "I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS!"
"I know, I know," I say, laughing. "Wait, wait, wait, hold up one sec," I continue, smiling wickedly.
She catches on with my train of thought right away. "We need to get control of ourselves," she says.
"Yes, yes we do."
I hold up my right hand, and she holds up her left, and SMACK. Our palms hit each other's cheeks, but it doesn't help. It only sends us into a further state of hysteria. We should probably be in the nearest institution. We are completely and utterly insane.
"Hanah?" I ask with a giggle.
"Yes?" My sixteen year-old sister beams, a wide smile plastered across her face.
"Could this day get any better?"
She's jumping up and down by now, not being able to contain it any longer, and her short, dirty-blond curls are bouncing with her. I look around us as we receive more and more strange looks. I think an older woman with perfectly coiffed ash-white hair is giving me the evil eye. I can hear her now: Youth these days. I shrug it off, what do I care? This is it! This is what I've waited for for two years!
I grab my sister's hands, not allowing her to take in all the attention herself, and start to jump up and down with her (we look like tweens front row at a Justin Bieber concert), when she stops suddenly, causing me to almost fall over our stack of luggage. I steady myself and look up to her cautiously. She's wide-eyed and her mouth is gaping. I move in front of her and cough.
"Err... Hanah," I begin, starting to follow her line of sight. "You want to tell me what's got your-" She slaps her hand to my mouth.
"Shut up!" She whisper-yells.
"What?" I manage to croak out in shock. "What are you talking about?" Forget it, she's paranoid. No. She's my sister, that's who she is.
I lift my hand and brush her off, shaking my head. "You're crazy, you know that, right?"
She narrows her eyes at me and bites her lower lip anxiously. "No, just whatever you do, don't look behind you."
I put my hands on my hips. "Really, that's your advice? Since you said that, I'm obliged to." I laugh and go to look over my shoulder when she stops me again, snapping her fingers in front of my face.
