Layla's POV:
Currently i am being wheelded into the ER. You're probally wondering how i ended up in this situation. Like the song lol. Let me get this straight for you.

2 hours earlier:
The music at my sister-in-law's after wedding party was intoxicating, a swirl of twinkling lights, laughter, and thrumming beat that seemed to pulse through all fiber within the body.

The four of us were dancing and I felt lost in the moment feeling euphoric and I spun around by Lex, Dex, Mateo while we were dancing like there was no tomorrow. My heart was so full, warmed by their smiles and the emotions at the celebration.

We kicked around some circles, each of us boot scootin' to our favorite moves. Lex spun me around. I was laughing crazily when the world whirled with me. Then, in less than a heartbeat, everything changed.

My foot twisted awkwardly beneath me, and a sharp searing pain shot through my ankle. The next thing I knew, I was falling. I tried to catch myself, but my head hit the floor with a sickening thud.

Spinning wildly, I lay there as pain radiated from both my ankle and my head. Faces swam into view, and Lex's panicked eyes were the first to come into focus. "Layla, are you okay?!" he shouted, his voice full of fear.

Everything blurred together as Dex and Mateo joined him, their concerns etched on their faces hovering over me. The music had stopped. In the distance, worried murmurs reverberated. I tried to speak, but no words came out.

Someone called for an ambulance, which arrived in a coupe of minutes. They placed me onto a stretcher as gently as possible, with each movement making my whole body convulse into new spasms. I would never remember the drive to the hospital clearly it all blended into a mix of just sirens and softly babbled words from the EMTs.

I was wheeled into the emergency room upon arrival. Above me, bright lights flickered at each movement we were making down the corridors. Murmurs of doctors and nurses their faces all a blur still concerned but so professional. I could really pick up bits of their conversation like 'fracture," "head injury," "CT scan."

They whisked me away for a head CT and an MRI to see what was the damage. Machines beeped and whirred I lay still, my mind in and out of focus. I could hear Lex's voice in the distance, asking questions, begging for reassurance.

Ultimately, they said I needed surgery in my ankle. Barely realizing what the doctors were saying, they began preparing me for surgery. I didn't know what was happening I just felt a mask over my face, and everything went black.

I woke up to my ankle in a cast and my head throbbing dully. There was Lex, holding my hand, with his eyes red-rimmed but finally relieved. "Hey, my love." he said, gentle, moving a strand of hair from my forehead. "You're going to be okay."

By then, the painkillers had begun working their magic to blunt the sharp edges of my discomfort. This was far, far from over, but I knew that with Lex, Dex, and Mateo by my side,

I would make it through. After all, the after-party might have gone directly to hell, but their love and support were balm enough. After that I fell asleep being tired as hell of this day.
