3. The Secret Revealed

Asha couldn't shake off the feeling that Karan was hiding something from her. She had tried to brush it off as mere nerves, but her intuition refused to let go. As she went about her day, her mind kept wandering back to their conversation, analyzing every word, every gesture.

That evening, as she was editing her photos, her phone buzzed with a text from Karan. "Hey, Asha! Want to grab coffee and go for that photo walk this weekend?"

Asha's heart skipped a beat. She was both excited and nervous about spending more time with him.She felt that they had great chemistry and the fact that they had common interests made them very compatible. But her curiosity got the better of her. "Sure, Karan! But can I ask you something first?"

"Of course, what is it?" Karan replied, his response was instant.

"What's going on with you?" Asha asked, her fingers hovering over the keyboard. "I feel like you're hiding something from me." Asha debated a few minutes before sending the text message. Her heart beating faster by the minute. For once she really wanted her intuition to be wrong and hoping she was just overthinking like always

There was a pause, and for a moment, Asha thought she had lost connection. But then Karan's response came, his words spilling out in a rush.

"Nothing's wrong Asha. I just liked spending time with you. I'll meet you tomorrow to pick you up for office so we can sit and talk"

Asha felt relieved but also suspicious. She decided to her mind rest and went to sleep.

In the morning after changing into her office attire. She was eating breakfast with her family when she heard a car honking outside the gate. Her father saw Karan and invited him inside but Karan declined citing that he would be late to work. Asha quickly ate her breakfast and jogged out to find Karan standing cross legged at the passenger side door which he opened when he saw her. she thanked him while getting inside.

They made small talk while on their way to the office which they discovered was very close to each other. Just when they were parking Asha asked the last night's question that was still bugging her.

Karan looked at her jaw clenched as if he was contemplating something. After a deep sigh he said, "Asha, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to deceive you. It's just...I'm already in a relationship. I know it's wrong, but I couldn't help how I feel. I didn't want to lose the chance to get to know you better."

Asha's world stopped. She felt like she had been punched in the gut, her breath knocked out of her. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. It was as if someone was squeezing her heart. She felt suffocated.

"Who is she?" Asha asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Her name is Rhea," Karan replied, his words laced with guilt. "We've been together for three years. I know I should have told you, I had planned to but then we started talking and I wanted to know you more."

Asha's mind raced, trying to process this new information. She felt betrayed, angry, and hurt all at once. How could Karan do this to her? To Rhea?
