You walked towards the front door, slowly opening it as Toji stood there in his hoodie. "Hey," you said, quietly.

"Hey," he simply responded, stepping foot inside the house. "Where are they?" He asked, a slight smile on his face.

You pointed towards Megumi's room, Toji nodding before trying his hardest to silently walk over without making any noise. He could hear Megumi playing his video game from the television and Naya laughing. Toji glanced back over his shoulder to look at you, seeing you were trying your hardest not to laugh. "Go!" You yelled in a whisper.

He finally made it to the room, staying just out of sight before he knocked on the door. "You can come in, mom," Megumi spoke, pausing his video game.

Toji slowly swung the door open before saying, "mom?" Standing there to see his kids faces light up with excitement.

"Dad!" Megumi yelled, tossing his headphones and control to the side, running up to his father.

"Daddy!" Naya screamed, dropping her dolls and running to Toji.

"Hey!" Toji chuckled, ruffling his sons hair and hugging him with one arm while he used the other to pick his daughter up, her little arms wrapping around his neck to hug him and kiss him on the cheek.

"I thought you weren't coming until tomorrow?" Megumi questioned, looking at his father.

"Yeah! That's what mommy said!" Naya chimed in, pouting.

You walked around the corner behind Toji with a smile on your face, arms folded across your chest. "Surprise!" You laugh. "Your dad wanted to prank you guys."

Toji laughed along with you as he put Naya back down on the floor. "Mommy told me you guys were so sad. Really missed your old man, huh?"

Naya nodded her head, fiddling with her fingers. She turned to look at you, her eyes glowing bright like a lightbulb just went off in her head. "Mommy, can daddy stay for dinner tonight? Please, please, please, please!" She begged.

"Please, mom! You make enough food for all of us and I know dad loves your cooking! Right?" Megumi looks over towards his father.

You and Toji glance at each other as the kids beg and beg you to get him to stay. You truly didn't mind, you usually end up always cooking extra for leftovers anyways and you knew the kids missed him like crazy. "It's up to your father. I'm not sure if he's busy or not."

Almost immediately Toji answers, "I can stay." His eyes searching yours.

"Yay!" Naya cheers, jumping up and down as she holds his hand.

"You two get back to playing and I'll help mommy out with cooking, okay?" He looks between his two kids and they both nod at him, running back to their respective spots and going back to playing. "So, what are you making?" He asks as he trails behind you into the kitchen.

"I was thinking beef stew over white rice. Megumi has been asking for it, says it's his favorite, so yeah," you respond.

He chuckles at you words, "just like me, isn't he?" Toji leans against the countertop. He watches as you grab the meat out of the fridge and the ricefrom the cabinet. There's a few seconds of silence before he breaks it again. "Is, uh, everything sorted out between you and your boyfriend?" He asks, hoping the question didn't come off too strong.

You scoff, "well, we're actually no longer seeing each other anymore." You purse your lips together, taking a deep breath.

"Shit...I'm sorry, mama. The argument couldn't have been that bad, could it?" Toji wonders.

"It's a little more complicated than that to him. I guess it wasn't just about the argument." You turn to look at him. "But what can I do? If he wants to leave, then so be it. He was a great guy, I have nothing against him, but I can't make him stay." You shrug. From where Toji was standing, he could see that you were hurt over the situation. He wasn't going to keep asking questions and pry, reopening the wound again just to make you talk about it. "It just ended so quick, he ended it so quick like nothing. I just...I'm starting to think that maybe it's me, you know?" You admit.
