❄️
Nothing burns like the cold.
Feeling the frost of November,
I wasn't told...
that you'd be someone I'd remember.—————————————-
Sunyoung sprang up from the ground along with the strangely familiar man, her eyes watering so much that even the famed big waterfalls were no match with the continual stream of teardrops that blurred her eyesight.
The youth looked at her silently while she cried, opening his mouth to say something but promptly closing it as she drew him into her hug.
"Why did you think about doing that?" Feeling incredibly sorry for him, she questioned his actions that shattered her heart. "You must've gone through a lot..."
"Even so," she muttered. "Your life is incredibly precious you know?""Life can be draining, I know..."
"But do not give up because it's exhausting hm?" Her chin rested on his shoulder, her hand stroking his back as she continued to cry. "If you're tired, simply rest. No one is going to blame you for doing that.""Giving up is not the answer," she shook her head. "You still have so much ahead of you, you know? If you don't have anyone to rely on, I will be here. So please, ahjussi, don't ever think of doing that again."
Once more, the winter breeze passed by them, and a brief hush fell between them.
He heard her sniffling and did not respond, but Sunyoung gripped him tightly as though he were intending to break free.
Sunyoung wept even more when she saw that he was wearing an airy shirt without any attire to keep him warm in this chilly weather.
"Why are you wearing such clothes in this weather?" She mumbled, sniffing as she pulled away.
Sunyoung unwrapped her dark red scarf from her neck, looking at him with a tender smile while her eyes kept tearing up. The man gazed at her as she carefully draped the scarf around his neck.
Her fingertips lingered on the material for a few minute while she made adjustments to make sure it sufficiently covered him. Her warmth seemed to be carried by the scarf, and as it brushed against his skin, he felt the chill slightly subside.
"You really..." she sighed, her lips pouting as she stared at him just watching her quietly; Sunyoung couldn't help but feel sorry and heartbroken on his behalf. His eyes seemed to sparkle with both gratitude and guilt as they held eye-contact.
"You are precious and loved."
"Donghyuck..." his name escaped her lips as she wiped her tears away, clearing her throat before looking back at him. "That's your name, right?"
Donghyuck's eyes filled with regret yet also a sense of loss and everything else in between that Sunyoung couldn't read it well. He slowly nodded as his lips stayed together for a moment; his eyes looked hesitant and he would gulp before opening his mouth again.
