Hayes' POV
I get a call from an unknown number. I decided not to answer because I didn't know who it was.
It was December and we were at Magcon in Houston, Texas. To this day, we are looking for Shelby in every state we have gone too. So far, we have found nothing.
Cameron, Nash, Shawn, Sky, and myself aren't the same since she's been gone. I also find out my mom died. Having my sister and my mom gone has changed me for the worse.
I started to drink since Cam is 21 now and buys alcohol. I know I shouldn't, but sometimes it feels like I have no other option.
Cameron is working in court to adopt her, but there are a lot of obstacles he has to jump over.
I hear my phone buzz again. I look down and see a voicemail.
Hmm, not many people leave voicemails. I wonder what it is.
I open my phone and enter my code to listen to the voicemails.
I click on the recent voicemail and listen to it.
"Hayes? It's Shelby, your sister. Please call me back. I'm on a plane to LAX and I will need a ride home. I love you bye."
No, this can't be real. What?
I am so shocked that I listen to it again.
I have to find Nash and Cameron right now.
"NASH! CAMERON! I need to talk to you guys now!" I said running down the stairs of our penthouse we were staying in for Magcon.
"Hayes, what the fuck is your problem? Are you having an aneurysm?" Nash says.
"Yeah bro, are you good?" Cameron says with an eyebrow raised.
"This is serious!" I roll my eyes.
"Yeah okay," Nash says and sits back down on the couch.
I play the voicemail on the speaker.
"Hayes? It's Shelby, your sister. Please call me back. I'm on a plane to LAX and I will need a ride home. I love you bye."
They both gasp. "HAYES, when did this happen? When did she call?" They both ask.
"She just called like 7 minutes ago, but I didn't know the number so I didn't answer it." I finish nervously.
Nash facepalms himself, "Hayes, this is why you should answer your phone when stuff like this is going on. It's a good thing she left a message."
"If she's on a plane, her phone is most likely on airplane mode," Cameron says.
"If that's even her phone..." Nash says.
"So she didn't leave any flight number or anything we can track her with?" Cameron says.
"Nope, but we don't know where she's coming from either. Hopefully, she has a layover." Nash states.
"Should I text her? Let her know I got the message?"
"Yes, Hayes!" Cameron and Nash say in unison. They look at each other and blush, then look down.
"What do I tell Shawn?"
Cameron whips his head over quickly and makes eye contact with me.
