5. What Happened?

(A/N: For anyone confused, the italics are for when they are talking to themselves in their heads during their POV)

Shawn's POV

I was enjoying my food and talking with the boys when all of the sudden, Shelby passes out next to me.

"Shelby!" Shawn exclaims.

Matt looks at me shocked with wide eyes.

"Holy shit, Shelby! Her face, it's all swollen!" he screeched. He whips out his phone and calls 911.

I look over and notice that Matt had shrimp on his plate... fuck, it didn't even register when he said he got 'surf and turf' she obviously didn't know what that meant either.

I guess he didn't hear her when she said she was very allergic to it...

"What do we do?" Taylor yells.

"Nash, do you have an epi-pen for her?" I asked frantically.

"N-no, I didn't even know she was allergic to anything..." Nash responds and looks down at the ground. I could tell he was choked up.

"She's allergic to seafood, peanut butter, and nuts..." I said while my voice was cracking.

Matt yells, "They are coming! They will be here in 5 minutes! They said to make sure to protect her airway."

"How do we do that?" I respond, while trying to hold back tears. I was choked up because I just met her and I wanted to get to know more about her. She is so amazing and seems like she has been through a lot.

"MOVE!" Hayes yells. "Shelby, Shelby, I have your epi-pen, but this is gonna hurt. I need you to breathe for me after I give it to you," Hayes holds her and jams the pen into her thigh.

Hayes' POV

On the other side of the table, I see Shelby sharing food with Shawn and then Matt.

What the hell? I thought he got surf and turf..

Everyone is supposed to know she can't have seafood, but I don't think Nash told them.

I don't want to lose her, I'm trying to see if she has feelings for me.

I keep an eye on Shelby and I see her pass out.

Shit, that's what I thought!

I open my fanny pack (don't judge) and grab her epi-pen.

"MOVE!!" I shout to everyone and push them out of the way. I see her start fading away and I can tell by how limp her body is when I held her in my lap.

"Shelby, Shelby, I have your epi-pen, but this is gonna hurt. I need you to breathe for me after I give it to you," I pinch her thigh like mom taught me too and jam the epi-pen in her thigh.

She suddenly sits up, trying to catch her breath and instantly wraps her arms around me to thank me.

"Thank you," she says to me out of breath.

I hug her back tightly and whisper, "No problem, sis. I thought we had lost you..."

The look on my face must've told her everything she needed to know.

"It's okay, Hayes. I am fine," she in a soft and soothing voice.

I can't lose her, I can't.

Shelby's POV

What happened? Everything was now pitch black. I couldn't breathe, it was like trying to come up for air in the middle of an ocean while you're drowning...
