Chapter 2- Not Again
---"See how fun it is here! This is why you need to come more often!!" Han Seo remarked, handing over the champagne glass to Hong Cha Young
"Yes, I should."
She wasn't going to. It was a lie. An obvious one.
Coming here only made her realize more that she didn't belong in the family. And maybe her brother was just blind, but it was too obvious. It was too obvious that no one liked her.
"Finally, find the time to come and see your family, Hong Cha Young." Cho Hee joined them. She said her full name, which wasn't abnormal. They weren't in the terms to be calling each other anything else.
"Ne.. eomma." Her throat felt dry.
Eomma.
It was a word she used to love using. Everywhere, every time, all she said was Eomma. But now, it feels like an unfamiliar word that only connected her and another woman just legally.
"I thought you wouldn't come today. But it's good you did. Jang Mi and Han Seo wanted you to join. If you hadn't come they would've been so upset." She said in an almost warning tone.
"It had been a while, and I hadn't gotten the time to speak with Jang Mi too for long. So I thought I would come." She reasoned, defending herself for coming as if she was being interrogated for her arrival.
"I thought you would've been stuck with that big murder case, and wouldn't have made it." Min Ju joined their conversation. The way she said it, it almost sounded as if she was disappointed for Hong Cha Young's arrival.
"Mr. Park's murder case?" Hong Cha Young looked confused. She doesn't recall telling her sister about taking this case. Well yes, it is all over the news but she doesn't expect her family to be watching any news related to her law frim.
"Ne.. Han Seo told me, that the big case which is all over the internet is being taken care of by you. You better win younger sister or else your law firm will be facing a huge crisis from the media." Min Ju snickered.
Of course, she had to add that in.
"Anyways, how's Jipuragi doing? Heard it's not too good ever since you picked up the case." She added
"You shouldn't believe everything that's on the internet." Hong Cha Young gave one of her fakest smiles ever. "Jipuragi, is doing fantastic, thanks to all my GOOD employees who support me." Hong Cha Young stretched the word 'good'.
"Good employees?" Min Ju chuckled but in a way of a taunt. "I don't know about that, but I know for a fact, that my husband was the last good lawyer in your firm."
---
If you thought you were delusional, let me introduce you to Min Ju. Hong Cha Young's older sister. Older by maybe 4 years, but her mental age is way younger than hers. She still believes that her good-for-nothing husband (jerk in short) whom Hong Cha Young hired only for her sister's sake, led the firm. He led the firm? Nah, She was crazy if she thought that was true. But more than crazy, she was delusional, and that was the end of the discussion.
---Hong Cha Young stayed quiet. There was no point in arguing with her older sister. She knew it would only come to an ugly end.
After a few moments of silence, Hong Yu Chan was heard calling them over to introduce their family to someone.
Hong Cha Young wasn't going to come along, but Han Seo grabbed her hand and dragged her. And not surprisingly, she was again the left out one, amongst her family.
Some time passed by, and that was when Hong Cha Young used the excuse to spend some time with her niece and slipped away from the disturbing crowd. She along with Somi, Han Seo, and Jang Mi, made their way inside the house to open her gifts.
