The morning sun rose over Jeju Island, casting a warm, golden glow across the landscape. I woke up to the gentle sound of waves crashing against the shore and the distant call of seagulls. Stretching lazily, I turned to glance at Sunghoon, who was still peacefully asleep beside me. His relaxed expression and the soft rise and fall of his chest filled me with a sense of calm and happiness.
Not wanting to disturb him, I quietly slipped out of bed and made my way to the balcony. The view took my breath away—the beach was already stirring with life, the early risers out for morning walks, and the promise of a perfect day ahead made me feel excited.
A little while later, the four of us gathered for breakfast. Hyerin and Seojin were already seated at the table, enjoying fresh fruit, pastries, and coffee.
"Good morning, lovebirds," Hyerin teased with a wink as I sat down beside Sunghoon, who had just joined us.
I laughed, pouring myself some coffee. "Morning! Ready for a fun day at the beach?"
Seojin nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely. I've been waiting for this all week."
Sunghoon smiled, placing his hand gently on my back. "Me too. It's been a while since we've had a day just for ourselves."
After breakfast, we all changed into our beachwear. I emerged from the bedroom in a light, flowing cover-up over my swimsuit, and when Sunghoon saw me, his eyes softened, his admiration clear.
"You look amazing, Eunchae," he said, his voice full of sincerity.
Blushing, I couldn't help but smile. "Thank you, Sunghoon. You're not looking so bad yourself," I teased, sneaking a glance at his toned physique as he stood in the sunlight.
Hyerin and Seojin appeared, both ready for a day full of sun and sea. "Alright, let's hit the beach!" Hyerin cheered, leading the way.
The beach was a dream—golden sands, clear waters, and the perfect blend of warmth and breeze. We set up our spot with towels, umbrellas, and a cooler packed with snacks and drinks. Hyerin and I ran toward the water, giggling like little kids, while Sunghoon and Seojin followed more leisurely, watching us with fond smiles.
The cool water lapped at my feet as I splashed into the ocean, the refreshing feeling instantly washing away any remaining stress. "Come on, Hoon!" I called out, turning to see him wading toward me.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," he said, grinning as he reached my side.
We swam and played in the water, splashing each other and laughing as the waves rolled in. At one point, Sunghoon tried to dunk me, but I was quicker, splashing him back. Nearby, Hyerin and Seojin were just as playful, their laughter ringing through the air.
After a while, we all returned to our towels to relax and soak up the sun. Sunghoon lay beside me, his hand resting comfortably on my waist. "This is perfect," he murmured, closing his eyes, content.
I smiled, tracing small circles on his chest. "I wish we could stay here forever."
Sunghoon opened his eyes and looked at me with a warm expression. "We can't stay forever, but we can make sure to enjoy every moment we have."
Our eyes met, and Sunghoon leaned in to kiss me. It was soft and lingering, the salty ocean breeze swirling around us. In that moment, everything else faded away—it was just the two of us, together in our little slice of paradise.
Later, we set up a game of beach volleyball at Seojin's suggestion. Sunghoon and I teamed up against Hyerin and Seojin, our competitive spirits kicking in.
"Prepare to lose," Hyerin teased as she served the ball.
I laughed, positioning myself to receive the serve. "Not a chance!"
The game was filled with friendly banter and intense volleys. Sunghoon's athleticism and my quick reflexes made us a strong team, but Hyerin and Seojin were no pushovers. In the end, though, Sunghoon and I managed to pull off the win.
"We make a pretty great team," I said, giving Sunghoon a high five, my cheeks flushed with excitement.
He grinned. "We always do."
After the game, we relaxed with snacks and drinks, sitting in the shade while chatting. Hyerin and I shared a blanket, talking about everything from life in the city to future vacation plans, while Sunghoon and Seojin discussed their own dreams and goals.
Later that afternoon, we took a long walk along the beach. Sunghoon and I strolled hand in hand, the waves gently brushing against our feet as we talked and collected seashells.
"I love it here," I said softly, gazing out at the vast ocean stretching endlessly before us. "It's so peaceful."
Sunghoon squeezed my hand, his thumb brushing over my knuckles. "It's even better because I'm here with you."
I smiled, feeling a warmth bloom in my chest as I leaned my head against his shoulder. "I feel the same way."
As we walked further, we found a secluded spot where we sat down to watch the sunset. The sky was painted in breathtaking shades of orange, pink, and purple, the perfect end to a perfect day. Sunghoon wrapped his arm around me, pulling me closer.
"This moment is perfect," he whispered softly, his voice full of emotion.
I looked up at him, my heart swelling with love. "So are you."
He smiled, and our lips met in a gentle, sweet kiss. In that moment, with the sun dipping below the horizon and the sound of the waves in the background, it felt like nothing else mattered but us.
When the sun finally disappeared, we made our way back to the group. Hyerin and Seojin had already started a bonfire, its warm glow inviting us to gather around.
"Perfect timing," Seojin said with a grin. "We were just about to start roasting marshmallows."
We sat by the fire, enjoying the cozy warmth as Hyerin pulled out a guitar and began strumming a soft tune. I hadn't known she played, but as the notes drifted into the night air, it felt like the perfect soundtrack to our evening.
"Didn't know you could play," I said, impressed.
Hyerin shrugged, her eyes twinkling. "I've got a few hidden talents."
We all sang along, our voices blending with the crackling of the fire and the rhythmic sound of the ocean waves. Sunghoon pulled me closer, his arm around my waist, and I leaned into him, feeling perfectly content in his embrace.
"This is perfect," he said again, his voice low and full of happiness.
I smiled, resting my head on his shoulder. "It really is."
As the fire burned down and the stars twinkled overhead, we decided to head back to our bungalows. Walking hand in hand with Sunghoon, the cool sand beneath our feet and the soft murmur of the waves in the background, I felt completely at peace.
"Today was amazing," I said, my heart full as I glanced up at him.
Sunghoon's eyes sparkled in the moonlight. "It was. And there's so much more to come."
We shared another kiss under the stars, a promise of many more beautiful days ahead. As we headed back to our bungalow, I knew that whatever the future held, we'd face it together, our love steady and unshakable.
Jeju Island had given us a perfect day—one filled with laughter, love, and peace. And as we fell asleep that night, wrapped in each other's arms, once again, I knew that no matter where life took us, moments like this would always be ours.
