Both of us have our own world's to fight but when the paths crossed and two worlds collided no one knows what could happen.
The deep, husky voice echoed through the empty café, its menacing tone sending a shiver down Anika's spine.
"So, a termagant is still here," it growled, the low timbre vibrating through the air.
Anika's slender fingers clenched around the chair in front of her, her heart racing. She slowly turned to face the speaker, her eyes meeting his piercing green orbs. Like his voice, they were deep and penetrating, seeming to bore into her very soul.
As she gazed at him, her eyes roamed across his features. His brownish hair was perfectly combed, set back from his face. Her gaze moved to his high-bridged nose, then to his plump lips, and finally to the Adam's apple protruding from his neck.
Anika swallowed hard, her mouth dry with fear. Her mind racing with ominous scenarios, she felt paralyzed, her feet seemingly rooted to the spot. She couldn't move an inch, frozen in terror.
Meanwhile, the man's gaze roamed over her, his eyes scanning her from head to toe. The contrast between their gazes was stark - Anika's was that of a prey sensing its impending doom, while his was that of a predator sizing up its next victim.
Yet, Anika refused to back down, summoning a fierce determination within herself. She met his gaze, her eyes locking onto his with a defiant intensity that caught him off guard. For a moment, he looked surprised, but soon his expression returned to its usual calm, collected mask.
The air was thick with tension, making the spacious room feel suffocating despite its capacity to hold over 30 people. Neither Anika nor Arthur was willing to back down, their gazes locked in a silent standoff. That was until Colin's cough broke the silence.
"I thought you came back for your phone, which you left by accident," Colin said with a teasing tone.
"Yes, but I found this lady here, and she seems to have seen things she hasn't," Arthur replied calmly, picking up his phone from the table.
Colin's gaze shifted to Anika, who stood frozen, her eyes darting between the two men. Their intense stares were trying to drown her, but she refused to be intimidated. Summoning her courage, she retorted...
"If you're done with your silly talk, get the hell out of here!" Anika retorted, her voice firm and commanding. Both men were taken aback by her fierce nature, stunned into silence.
"I think you didn't hear me," she thundered again, her voice rising. "Get... Out... Of... Here." The emphasis on each word left no room for misinterpretation.
Arthur, coming out of his dazed state, closed the distance between them. "Very well," he said, his eyes locked on hers. "Seems like you're being cooperative." He gazed into her amber eyes, which shone with determination and a hint of dominance.
