It was a way to honor all of their ancestries. As for Nikita, her first name was given to her by her paternal grandfather (Ye-Joon) who liked the meaning and uniqueness of the name; however, he unofficially did give her the Korean name 'Nari' which means "Lily". Half of her Korean family and some friends has adopted it as her nickname. 
* NOTE: She is closest to Marcelo, Antonio, and Emilio due to their similar personalities and interests. She fondly refers to them as "Celo, Nio, and Lio" which mirrors their shared love for Ed, Edd, n Eddy growing up. They even have a shared language of Japtuglishese which is a weird mixture of Japanese, Portuguese, English, and Japanese.
