It was a calm, greenleaf morning. SkyClan was bustling with life. The deputy, Softwing, barked orders to her Clanmates. Warriors and apprentices grouped together for patrols, while others went together in pairs.

Coldkit watched with jealousy. His paws tingled to see outside the camp, to climb trees, to feel the fur of enemies under his paws. He was snapped out of his thoughts by a sharp prod to his flank.

It was Cloudedkit, one of his littermates. "I asked you a question, mouse-brain!"

"What?" The white tom tilted his head.

Whitekit sighed. "Are you coming to get some prey with us?" he asked, though his tone was not as annoyed as Cloudedkit's.

"Okay," He nodded. "Race ya!"

Without warning, the pure white tom-kit bounded away. He glanced over his shoulder, yelping when he tumbled into a ball of golden fur.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!" Sunkit hissed.

Coldkit shook out his fur. "Sorry, Sunkit!"

She sighed. "It's okay," the tabby murmured.

"Wanna come eat prey with my littermates and I?" he asked hopefully.

The golden she-cat nodded. "Sure!" Sunkit said enthusiastically.

They walked over to the fresh-kill pile, meeting Coldkit's littermates there. Cloudedkit looked smug that he and Whitekit beat Coldkit there. Heatherkit, Sunkit's sister, was also there.

"Hey, Coldkit!" she purred.

He glanced at her and smiled before looking back at Sunkit. The sleek tom-kit grabbed a small blackbird, motioning for Sunkit to sit by him with a flick of his tail.

Heatherkit scoffed before turning away, padding off to the nursery.

"What's her problem?" asked Whitekit.

Cloudedkit and Coldkit shrugged.

The white kit took a bite from his fresh-kill, not feeling any envy as he watched his brothers eat their robin. He enjoyed Sunkit's company as she gulped down the blackbird.

Once they finished the bird, Coldkit got up. "Hey, Sunkit! Wanna play a game of moss-ball?"

She nodded fervently. "Sure!"

They raced off to find a ball of moss. Coldkit let out a excited squeak when he found one, hooking it with his claws and tossing it into the air.

Sunkit caught it, tossing it towards her friend. The kits played moss-ball until the sun began to disappear behind the horizon. It had been past sun-high when they began playing.

"I'm tired," yawned the white tom-kit, stalking off to the nursery.

His denmate followed, her golden pelt beautiful in the light of the setting sun.

Coldkit curled in with his littermates, murmuring a good-night to Sunkit before falling asleep.
