Chicago, a place where everything changed for Carlisle. He stood in the cemetery, looking down at the two marked gravestones. The first one decorated in pearls read, 'Elizabeth Mason,' mother and wife.' He sighed, kneeling down, and he looked over at the other. It read 'Athena Mason,' daughter and sister.' Carlisle was usually calm and collected, but he couldn't keep it in as he silently sobbed. "I'm so sorry, Elizabeth, I didn't know." He stayed there for what seemed like hours. When the sun came down, he stood up, collecting himself. He got a call from Alice. "What did Emmett do this time?" He asked. Alice from the other side of the phone chuckled. "He didn't do anything as of yet." Carlisle frowned. "Should I know what that means?" He asked. Alice hummed. "Soon you will. Also, I kept tabs on Bella and Sophia." Carlisle was confused at first. "What?" He asked. Alice squeaked. "Sorry, I forgot um well Bella is going to be in our lives, and with that is her twin sister Sophia.." Carlisle sighed. "More children."

The two talked for a bit before Carlisle hung up. He walked down the street and towards the house where he'd met Elizabeth all those years ago. When he arrived, he noticed no one lived there, and it didn't look like anyone bothered to fix it. He didn't mind seeing as he knew the horrors of that house. His mind flashed back to when Elizabeth came yelling out the house. He remembered it like yesterday. It was a warm summer day. Elizabeth was in the kitchen baking a pie for Carlisle like she said she would. She flinched as she heard the sound of the door slamming. She turned, seeing her husband come in the house drunk. He went behind her and grabbed her arm, then grabbed some liquor from the top shelf. "Honey, maybe you shouldn't be drinking so much.." Elizabeth said. Edward Sr turned sharply at her. "What did you say?" He asked lowly, slurring his words. She clenched her fist, and small crescent moons imprinted themselves into her palms.

She didn't have to say anything as he took in a deep breath. "Are you baking pie again for that doctor?" Elizabeth knew this was coming. "He's been helpful." She said softly. He scoffed and looked at her. "Yeah, I bet he has." His tone suggesting she was cheating on him. She looked back at him. "What's that supposed to mean." He threw a glass at her. "You know damn well what that means." She ducked, and she heard running coming from outside. She tried to shield her son from doing anything as she knew he would fight his father. She also heard the sound of tiny footprints. "Edward, take your sister out of the room." Her husband laughed. "Yeah, I don't want your children to be around your cheating mother." Elizabeth took a deep breath in and yelled at him. "That's just typical of you to say I'm cheating when I know you don't have social calls at five in the morning, plus your son wants to join the army!"

Elizabeth ushered the kids out the door as she slammed the door. Edward Sr following after her almost falling off the porch. "Elizabeth, you're making a scene." Elizabeth blew air out her mouth, catching the eyes of Carlisle. She could tell he wanted to step in, and part of her was great, greatful, but the other half was too scared to let him. Elizabeth whispered to her son. "Take Athena and go to Agatha's house." Edward nodded, and the two took off. Edward didn't want to leave his mother by herself with the monster of a father he had. He did, however, obey her, seeing the look in her eyes. Carlisle watched as the memory faded, and he was left staring at the old house. He put his hands into his pockets and went back to his car. He had to go back to Forks soon.

Meanwhile, in the European continent, a large castle can be seen. Inside people with cloaks were  walking along the corridors. One male with brown hair carried a tray of food down some stairs. The stairs led to what most would say was a jail cell. Inside was a blonde haired woman was  connecting light in the air.  Her hair was a mess as if it hadn't been brushed. Another woman younger than the blonde was meditating. The man placed the tray down and pushed it in. "I've managed to sneak you some food, but be careful." He said. The blonde woman looked up and nodded. "Thank you, Demetri." He nodded and left the room. The brown haired woman sighed and looked towards the blonde woman. "Are we ever going to be able to leave, mom." She said. The blonde hair woman shook her head. "I'm not sure, Athena." Athena pulled her legs to her chest as she looked towards her mother.

Her mother had grabbed parchment paper and had begun writing. This would be the hundredth letter she had written. Each one piled into a crack in the wall. She would never be able to send them but she wrote them in hope one day they'd be able to go to the person she wanted them to go to.  All that was written was. "My dearest, Carlisle."
