Fifty years later...
"This can be dangerous Marcus." The girl said, gripping tightly her boyfriend's hand as they walked carefully over chopped lumber wood, concrete blocks and steel pipes left on the floor inside a construction site in the rear lot of the recently built Carrizo High School.
"Relax Tamara. It's going to be fun. Nobody will find us here." Marcus replied guiding her to a pile of flattened cardboard boxes. "Dangerous can turn you on." He placed his hands on Tamara's waist and pulling her closer to him began to kiss her ardently.
After a few minutes, the young couple ended laying over the pile of boxes kissing and caressing each other effusively. Tamara placed herself on top of Marcus and began to unbutton her blouse. But the girl got distracted by something on the dirt floor. "Hey, what's that? There's something shiny buried in the ground."
"No... Wait! What? Tam, you can't leave me like... Argh!" Marcus protested when his girlfriend rose and moved to her side, kneeling on the floor to have a closer look to what she'd just discovered.
"Look Marcus! It's a crucifix..."
"No way." Replied Marcus in a sardonic tone. The boy stood next to Tamara who was digging on the floor using a piece of steel she found on the floor. "Oh, I think it is made of silver."
"Yes... Ah, it's heavy..." she gasped making an effort to lift the cross off the ground. "It looks like a solid piece of silver... And seems to be old, maybe a relic. Marcus, this can worth a fortune!"
The couple sat on the pile of boxes studying the object carefully. Tamara tried to remove the excess of dirt on the silver crucifix rubbing it with her fingers.
"It has an inscription on it Tamara. Look, here on the bottom of the cross it says Rit-vale Roman-vm." Marcus tried to read the words in Latin.
"Cool! I think this is an old relic Marcus! We can go to one of this auction shops where they pay thousands for these things! Tamara sounded excited.
Marcus and Tamara contemplated the object when a cold gust blew inside the construction site, making some light cardboard pieces and papers swirl in the air.
"It's cold all of the sudden in here." Said Marcus.
"Yeah, and it smell like flowers... roses." Tamara sniffed.
Marcus scowled and dropped the crucifix to the floor.
"Ouch! It's hot!" His hands were red burnt.Tamara stood up and gave a few steps forward without saying a word. She began to laugh out loud. Her voice cracked in times sounding deep and distorted. "Tam? What is it? What's wrong with you? Stop laughing like that, you're scaring me!"
Marcus placed his hand on the girl's shoulder. Tam turned around slowly. Her eyes were full black like a pair of glossy onyx stones. Marcus jumped back terrified. "What the hell!"
Tamara began convulse, her body twitching erratically. Marcus stared at her terrified, not knowing what happened to his girlfriend. The girl moved in a waving motion and her face disfigured. Then she walked towards the rear end of the building and stopped right in front the concrete wall. "Tam! Tam! Please, stop! You're freaking me out! It's not funny anymore."
She didn't reply, only stood there staring at the wall. Marcus followed Tam and stopped only a few steps behind her. Again, she cracked and laughed like a madwoman and then she banged her head on the wall so hard it made a loud thumping noise. "Tam! Noooooo!" Marcus screamed. One time after the other the girl hit her head against the wall. Blood splattered everywhere and the sound of a braking skull was heard after she plummeted to the floor.
Inside a classroom in the same school, a girl held her stomach; her face appalled showing some sort of pain.
"What's wrong with you Sofía?" The girl next to her asked in a whisper.
"I don't know Jess... It's... I felt a cold blow in my stomach."
"Oh you and your crazy feelings again. Don't tell me you saw a ghost in here because I'm going to run out of this place." Jess replied looking at her friend.
"No... It's not a ghost. It hurts... feels like something heavier." Sofía said in a broken voice.
"Heavy like what?" Jess asked.
"I don't know... I think it's gone. Never mind... What was the teacher saying?"
An old professor was explaining some algebraic equations on the board, looking like a wacky scientist, his chalk rained white dust to the floor after writing the formulas in a very quick fashion.
The students squeaked in their seats after the windows in the classroom opened abruptly, and a howling gust blew all the papers on the desk.
Sofía jumped on her seat and gasped. Her eyes scanned the entire classroom and stopped right on the boy next to hers. He glanced her back smiling, but his face transformed into something hideous. His eyes went red and his mouth grew wide forming a demonic grin; sharp and rotten-like-yellow teeth protruded.
In the row next to the door, a girl screamed when the boy sitting in front of her wrenched violently.
"What is going on here?" Jess asked.
"Evil has come to this place." The girl muttered.
