"You brought friends with you?" Faith teased, a wicked gleam dancing in his eyes, no longer containing a shred of humanity, bearing that of a monster, a completely new being emerging. His voice had always been laced with that simulated and contemptuous amusement, echoing without remorse and ceasing for no one. "We needed more life here, anyway. The place is too dark."
With a theatrical flourish, he extended his arms, palms open to the musty air. A dark, crackling energy began to swirl around him. His followers around him holstered their own weapons ready to strike by his call.
"Y/N!" Furina shouted from where she hung, the chains that bound her clanked ominously.
"Furina!"
"I'm sorry, you two. But if you're going to interrupt mandatory activity, then we'll have to escort you out of the premises our own way."
"Get Furina, Y/N. I'll watch your back." Clorinde's gun twirled in her hands, never missing a beat as it sparked and zapped the air surrounding it with little embers.
Y/N's heart pounded in response to Furina's cry, hearing her again felt like a sliver of discharge from affliction consuming his heart. Without a moment's hesitation, Y/N sprinted forward, his form a blur of grace and speed, decorated by a veil of flames surrounding his body. The air seemed to part for him, like a river effortlessly making way for a skilled swimmer. Coming from a powerful leap, Y/N had soared through the air, his silhouette embellishing through the high windows, his physical delineation in full stride. During that moment, time seemed to slow, clockwork destroyed against the powers of nature.
The chains that bound Furina glinted menacingly. Drawing a sleek dagger from his belt, Y/N infused Pyro on it and slashed at the chains with deft precision. Each strike was accompanied by a sharp, metallic clang as the links shattered.
In one final, decisive motion, Y/N swung Furina into his arms, breaking her free from her suspended prison as she clung to him by his neck. The two of them landed gracefully on the ground, Y/N cushioning the impact with a swift roll.
Furina clung to Y/N, her breathing ragged but relieved. "You came," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Y/N gave her a reassuring smile, his eyes shining with warmth and resolve. "I plan to, but not now—"
She slapped his cheek, her eyes blazing with a mix of frustration and relief. "OW! I just saved you!"
"I can't believe you can make those kinds of jokes in this situation! I literally hung near the roof! Trying to avoid being bludgeoned for a crazy ceremony here!" She gestured wildly, her voice rising with exasperation.
"Sorry for taking too long." Y/N winced, rubbing his cheek with a brazen grin. "I made it in time. I made it. You're okay..."
"You're here." Furina sighed, her expression softening as she looked at him with a mixture of gratitude and affection.
"I love you," Y/N said.
"... You have the worst timing..." Furina replied, her cheeks flushing slightly. "How about later?"
"I still love you." Y/N's grin widened, his eyes sparkling with affection.
"Dork. Thank you for saving me."
"Yep." Y/N smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. She loved his expression so much.
Furina glanced at him, her brow furrowing slightly. "And you got a little fire on your hair," she muttered, reaching up to pat out the small flame flickering at the tips of his hair. "I didn't know you had a Vision."
