Gulf kept a close eye on Mew as he recovered. Mew no longer required constant care, so he was able to stay at home, although he still couldn't handle long periods at a desk or too much time in bright light. Despite Mew's attempts to return to work early, Gulf was there every step of the way, refusing to let him push himself too hard.
Gulf was observant, noticing every little detail about Mew's condition. He could tell when Mew was in pain, even if it was just a small wince. Mew often rubbed his nose, a lingering reminder of the meningitis he had battled. Thankfully, Mew had survived the illness without any long-term effects, but he was still in the process of fully recovering.
Gulf was relieved to see Mew's wincing decrease over the next few weeks. Finally, Mew was free of pain and they returned to the hospital for another lumbar puncture. When the results came back clear, they rejoiced. Mew was healthy once more and could resume work. Meanwhile, Gulf continued to work tirelessly, caring for patients who were still battling their illnesses. Some had recovered and returned home, while others were still fighting for their lives. The journey to recovery was different for each patient, but Gulf remained dedicated to helping them all.
Gulf's immediate need to act lessened, allowing him to return to his routine of rounds and new patients. Cruise ship passengers with norovirus, STIs, and food-borne illnesses were common cases. As winter turned to spring and Gulf's pregnancy became more apparent, he led Rathanburi Medical in a county-wide campaign on tick-borne illnesses. Gradually reducing his hours, he regained his health.
In the middle of April, as the new administration in Samut Sakhun settled in, Mew turned to Gulf with a smile on his face one rainy Saturday afternoon. "You know what?"
Gulf smiled at him. "What?"
"It's been some time. I realize I haven't made it to the gym lately, but do you think that perhaps...?"
Gulf took a moment to understand what his partner was implying. "You look amazing, Mew. Do you want to do something?"
"Seriously?" Mew chuckled. "I've been wanting to for a while now." He blushed. "I just didn't know how to bring it up. I don't think there's ever a good time to say something like 'Hey, I know you saw me suffer from a fever and almost die, but do you think we could make love?'"
Gulf's tongue enveloped Mew's mouth. "You can ask anytime. I might have to decline if it's not safe or I'm not feeling well, but there's never a bad time to ask. And you'll always be beautiful to me."
Mew perked up. "Seriously?"
"Absolutely. Even after four days of sweating from the fever." He chuckled and removed his paternity shirt. "I'm a bit concerned about being too swollen for you, but that's a whole other issue."
"Don't be silly." Mew gently placed his hand on Gulf's stomach. Gulf's slender figure was starting to show a slight bulge, a telltale sign of the twins he was expecting. Despite knowing the reason behind it, Gulf couldn't help but feel a bit uneasy about his changing body.
When Mew placed his hand there, though, he experienced pure bliss. He positioned himself so he was sitting on Mew's hips. Mew released a soft moan and moved his hips upwards, pressing his stiff member against Gulf. Gulf realized Mew was truly eager for this. As he leaned in to kiss Mew deeply once more, he ensured to sway gently from his seated stance. Mew clearly enjoyed it and the rubbing sensation also brought pleasure to Gulf.
Gulf's skin tingled under Mew's touch, sending shivers down his spine. Despite the heat, Gulf couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. As Mew's fingers traced over his sensitive nipples, Gulf let out a soft hiss of pleasure.
Soon enough, both of them were stripped down to nothing but their skin. Gulf made sure to grab the lube, not wanting any interruptions once they got started. Locking eyes with Mew, Gulf signaled that he was ready to continue.
Mew's eyes widened with anticipation as he followed Gulf's lead. With Gulf's guidance, they found their rhythm and reached for the lube together.
Gulf wasn't accustomed to this position. He preferred being on the bottom, feeling secure and protected from the outside world, and he cherished being sheltered by his man. However, at the moment, Mew was still recovering from his battle with meningitis. He might be improving, but Gulf could offer him this, could make things more manageable for him.
He ensured to express his approval when Mew accomplished something correctly while easing Gulf's tension. He let out a sigh of pleasure as he felt himself unwinding and adapting to the intimacy. It wasn't just Mew who was eager for this moment, Gulf desired it as well. The only thing that had kept him from speaking up was his worry for Mew's well-being.
"I'm ready," he informed his partner, unable to hold back any longer.
Gulf took Mew's word to heart. He prepared himself meticulously and positioned himself at the entrance. Mew was now in charge, easing himself onto Gulf's member so slowly that Gulf couldn't help but let out a needy moan.
He allowed himself a moment to acclimate. It wasn't just a physical adjustment; he needed time to savor that feeling of fullness and completeness. In that moment, everything felt just right. He was filled with Mew and carrying their babies. Mew's firm grip on his hips conveyed patience, waiting for Gulf to signal he was ready to proceed. Mew's scent enveloped him, and his warm brown eyes locked onto Gulf's gaze.
"Perfect," he whispered.
Then Mew moved.
Mew shifted his position, causing Gulf to move along with him. The intensity of Mew's movements indicated that he hadn't lost any of his stamina. Gulf felt an incredible sensation as Mew continued to thrust into him, their bodies moving in sync. Gulf reached down to add some extra stimulation, matching the rhythm of Mew's thrusts.
His own release was almost an afterthought. For Gulf, the sight of Mew in that moment, experiencing pleasure and savoring it, was more than satisfying.
After Mew finished, Gulf carefully dismounted and cleaned them both with a damp washcloth. Returning to bed, he lay down next to his partner and asked, "Are you alright?"
Mew planted a kiss on Gulf's lips and pulled him close. "That was nice. Thank you," he said with a smile.
"Definitely needed that," Gulf replied before drifting off to sleep.
Their peaceful slumber was interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Mew's mother, Kath. Despite the initial awkwardness, they quickly composed themselves and greeted her.
Kath came bearing gifts of hearty stews and casseroles, much to Gulf's surprise. Although the dishes were heavier than what he was accustomed to, they were filled with ingredients that the babies adored. Gulf graciously accepted the gifts and invited Kath inside, who couldn't help but notice the lack of child-friendly features in the apartment.
Gulf's expression tightened slightly, but he managed to keep his frustration hidden. "I have to admit, I wasn't really considering that when I chose this place," he confessed. Glancing around, he added, "The schools in the area aren't exactly top-notch either."
Mew perked up a bit. "I thought you'd prefer a private school."
Gulf chuckled softly. "Assumptions can be deceiving, huh?" He shook his head. "Private schools are an option, but there aren't many around here. We could always move back to Udon Thani or some place else, but uprooting our lives doesn't seem ideal. Starting fresh in a new place while starting a family sounds daunting." He grimaced. "I suppose we could look for a place outside the city." With a sigh, he glanced around the apartment. "I used to love this place, but it's just not practical for us now."
Gulf's smile widened as Mew reached out and gently held his hand. "We'll discover a place for us, together."
Gulf smiled brightly. They were determined to discover a place where they could both feel at home. It wouldn't be simple, but it would definitely be rewarding.
