In the living room, the three children sat in a row on the long sofa, with Eunwoo in the middle, and Lisa and Jungkook on either side of him. They were there to help explain Eunwoo's "criminal actions" to Shen Shishan.

"How long have you been together? How old is the girl? What does her family do? You said her father is ill, what's the situation? How have you helped her?"

After so many years of power and influence, Shen Shishan had keen senses. With just one earful, he could tell something was off in what Eunwoo said.

Eunwoo would rather die than let his father know the truth, so he just said she was a schoolmate from an ordinary family.

"Dad, if you must know, I'll bring her home to meet you, so you won't go snooping around behind my back."

"Why would I snoop around? Do you think I'd stop you from having a girlfriend?"

"That's exactly why I didn't dare say anything. I know you all too well. A single old man with an empty nest, bored out of your mind, you love gossip more than anything."

Before Shen Shishan could react, Lisa got angry instead. She kicked Eunwoo's knee.

"How could you talk to Dad like that! Don't be so rude!"

Eunwoo was forced into this situation and spoke recklessly. He was genuinely worried that Shen Shishan would look into it, so he tried to provoke him first.

"That's exactly it. You and Jungkook dated for almost two years before telling Dad. Wasn't that because you were afraid he'd randomly investigate?"

Lisa glanced guiltily at Shen Shishan. "I wasn't sure yet back then. What if I started seeing someone else?"

Shen Shishan felt both angry and hurt by Eunwoo's words. "Fine, you siblings discuss everything between yourselves, even dating. You keep it all from me. Alright, you've grown up. You don't need your dad anymore. Do as you wish!"

He went back to his study after saying that.

Seeing her father's dejected back, Lisa felt awful. She chased after Shen Shishan, "Dad, no, he doesn't mean it. I still need you!"

Eunwoo, who just breathed a sigh of relief, quickly grabbed her. "Hey, don't go!"

Lisa shook his hand off angrily. "What is wrong with you? Why did you have to say those things? Dad must feel terrible."

"I was just worried he'd really investigate Mina."

"He cares about you. If he knew about Mina, he definitely wouldn't just stand by."

"No, if he finds out, Mina and I are done for. Lisa, don't mention this to him again. Pretend you know nothing."

Lisa looked at him dubiously. "Brother, did you do something bad?"

Eunwoo glanced uneasily at Jungkook. Jungkook shook his head helplessly and went to knock on the study door. "Uncle Shen, may I join you for a game of chess?"

"Come in, come in. At least I have a good son-in-law. Having a son is useless. All he does is upset me."

Lisa and Eunwoo were left alone in the empty living room, staring at each other.

Eunwoo didn't even know how things ended up this way. Jungkook said he made a mistake that night.

Did he really make a mistake?

That evening, Eunwoo found Mina. She was training in the gym. Leaning against the door, he watched her do pull-ups.

She always had a hot figure, with evenly sculpted muscles that weren't too bulky. She didn't look skinny in clothes either, since she had ample breasts. He had seen her in a tight tank top before. It was enough to give a man a nosebleed.
