I lay there, chained to the bloodied wall. Bruises were scattered across my body. They were already turning into an ugly purplish hue. Whip marks decorated my torso, I wish they weren't infected or raw due to poison. I could barely feel my body as I tried to lift my head, the only part of my body that wasn't immobile due to the pain. I shook my head slowly, trying to navigate through the haze only to see her cold, green eyes staring at me.
" You could have prevented this if you complied " she uttered before flicking her whip onto my already bloodied torso. I wheezed and gasped uncontrollably as I tried to fill my lungs with the much-needed air.
I smirked lazily, desperately trying to hide the pain. After all, sick bitches like her prey on the pain. Who would like to see people in pain? I'll tell you, absolutely no one. Despite being submerged in pain, I found it in myself to reply with an obnoxious tone, it was bound to irritate her.
"That's the oldest villain line in the literal history of villain lines. Can't you guys come up with something original? Oh, who am I kidding? Of course, you can't explains why you are such a basic bitch. I mean, kidnapping people, boooring. Can't you be straight for once and tell me what the fuck do you want? "
I should learn to control my mouth or sew it shut. I held my breath in utter anticipation, and watched intently, weirdly fascinated by how her eyes turned black with rage. Soon, the sound of tearing skin brought me to my senses and awoke me from my nightmare.
The sheets were soaked with blood and sweat. It was the third time this week. What in the name of hell was going on? I woke up remembering absolutely nothing and being covered in wounds from top to bottom. I swear to god if someone knew about this, I would be thrown into a mental asylum.
I stumbled through the darkness, trying to find the switches. Unfortunately, I did not have night vision. Throughout my mission to find the switches, I hissed in pain, the bruises on my body took quite a toll. Finally, I found the switch, and the bright lights shone throughout the room, highlighting my figure in the mirror. I quickly slipped into the bathroom, not wanting to stain anything red with my dripping blood. I took the first-aid box and cleansed my wounds, sighing in happiness when none of them were infected with poison or something else.
I turned on the shower, let the warm water hit me, and gently burned my wounds before it started soothingly running over them. I didn't want the silence to remain longer than it had to be as I commanded Alexa to play music. Usually, I would have welcomed the silence, but now the silence brings foreboding thoughts. Dangerous thoughts leeched into my brain. Dark thoughts that made themselves known by their whispers. Voices that weren't mine. The silence was now a weapon.
Damn with these thoughts, I could just become a philosopher. At least then I wouldn't have to work three jobs just to pay the damn bills.
After the warm shower, I dressed the wounds. Looks like I would have to buy more bandages. I would have to be prepared, don't know how long this bad juju would last. The first thing going on the TO-DO List, buying medical bandages, ointment, and cotton.
The sun began to barely rise as I stumbled towards the antique cupboard. It was there here when I moved in, probably left by the previous owners. I mean, I wouldn't complain, I got it for free. And it was such a score. It should be about 7:15, great another sleep-deprived day. Why don't I just get checked out for insomnia?
I sifted through the pile of clothes in the space beside the cupboard. I would have to wash my clothes today or tomorrow. Whatever smells the least... ripped jeans and a tank top, are not bad. I quickly slipped on the clothes and moved towards the kitchen, I'd have to move fast if I needed to be at the cafe before 8. The lights shined brightly as I stepped in, switching on automatically due to my heat signature. It wasn't a particularly fancy apartment, I just meddled with it and changed a few stuff here and there. And voila, a brand new light system. Just thinking about it made me happy, dumpster diving allows me to find so many things for free and turn them into something beautiful. Same concepts as geodes. Okay, getting way off track. Sometimes, I seriously wonder why I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD.
Opening the fridge, all that was there was a half-eaten apple and almost expiring milk. The second thing on the TO-DO List is getting groceries and of course candy. After finding some cereal, I scrambled to add milk to it and eat it.
I didn't have time to think about all the times I woke up remembering nothing and waking up with fresh blood. I sighed wearily as the clock chimed, signifying that it was 7:30. Time to move and make minimum wage, awesome! God I wish something nice happened once. Maybe it was the lack of food or sleep, but I staggered and bumped my head into the locked door.
I turned and caught sight of my favorite neighbor exiting her house. She could make anyone smile with just those warm honey-suckle-like eyes.
A smile washed over my face as I greeted her. All signs of weariness dissipated as I looked at her. She had this warm aura that made anyone comforted I suppose.
