CHAPTER 9

"Aren't you going to eat your lunch first? Para maging ready ka na for your game." Nasa harap kami ng isang stool. Dito kasi tumigil si Ace at bumili.

"Keep the change," kinuha niya ang buko shake at pop corn. He handed it to me and started to walk. I almost run just to keep up with him.

"I think you should eat your lunch na." I suggested.

Dapat kumakain na siya ng tanghalian para matunawan siya bago ang laro nila.

"I'll eat later. Where are your friends?" Tumigil siya sa paglalakad at hinarap ako.

"I think they're in the basketball gym." Hindi ko siguradong sagot. Kumunot ang noo niya.

"You sure? Let's go." He grabbed my hand at naglakad na kami papunta sa gym.

When we got inside marami na ang tao roon. May tumawag kay Ace kaya binitawan niya ako para sagutin 'yon. I surveyed every corner of the gym to find Eva and Freya and I spotted them sa pangalawang hilera ng bench near the other players na naghihintay sa schedule nilang laro.

They got a VVIP seat ha. For sure maaga ang dalawang 'to.

"Did you find them?" Tanong ni Ace nang makabalik siya. Tumango ako at tinuro ang gawi nina Freya.

"I told you they're here." I was right. Hindi pahuhuli ang dalawang to kapag maraming guwapo.

"Let's go," aya niya.

Kinunotan ko siya nang noo. Saan naman kami pupunta?

"To where? Where are we going?" I asked, confused.

"To your friends?" Patanong niyang sagot like I should know.

"Oh," sabi ko nang makuha ko kung saan. Umiling ako sa kaniya. "You don't have to come with me. Your teammates must be looking for you, it's time for your lunch."

He looked at me like he was weighing if he would leave or not. In the end he sigh.

"Okay, take care." Seryoso ang tingin niya.

"Yes, go na. I'll be there, good luck!" I cheer him up.

I don't exactly know how to cheer the players up because it is normal for them to feel tensed or nervous but Ace doesn't looked bothered at all. Is it because he already played countless of time? Well, he's good, no doubt of his capabilities in playing football kaya siguro hindi rin siya kinakabahan kasi he trust himself.

Umalis na si Ace kaya pumunta na ako kayla Eva. I stop in some benches when I was going there because I saw friends from other schools kaya natagalan ako bago makarating sa kanila.

"Ang tagal mo mayora ah," bungad ni Eva sa akin, "para kang mangangandidato."

Iniripan ko siya at umupo.

"I just knew some friends." I looked for my phone inside my pockets and bag but I couldn't find it.

Oh, right! Na kay Ace pa pala at hindi niya pa binabalik!

"Grabe na ang fan girling mo. Where did you costumize your cap? Parehong pareho kay Ace ah." Puna ni Freya habang nginunguso ang suot kong sumbrero.

I didn't costumize this, it's really Ace's cap!

I want to say it but refrain myself. Tatawanan lang naman ako ng mga 'to. They wouldn't believe it anyway.

Humalakhak si Eva sa sinabi ni Freya pero wala namang sinabi.

"Hey! You're Megan, right?"

Napalingon kaming tatlo sa likuran. I saw the varsity players of Brent College based on the logo in their varsity jacket.
