The oddest predicament had fallen upon them.
How had it come to this?
“Let me get this straight.” Marcus paced the room, his face looked troubled and confused. “So, the Moon Goddess spoke to you,” he motioned to her, “and told you to unite the people, and help protect it against those who wish to kill us.” He paused and groaned. “But it’s not even possible for you to shift!”
“Well, she said that she’s going to somehow be my second soul. And that’s how she came to speak to you,” Lia’s voice was shaky, and she didn’t want to do this, but it was now or never. Her heart was beating fast, not knowing what to expect from Marcus.
He looked at her, and Lia couldn’t tell what he meant by the expression on his face, and it scared her. Was he going to reject her now? “Marcus?”
He walked towards her and gave her a hug, pulling her as close to his body as possible. “Don’t ever think that I’d leave you for something like this. Didn’t I tell you I’d stay forever?” He didn’t need for her to say it out loud, he just knew by how she stood and the look on her face that she thought that he’d just suddenly not want her anymore.
“But you looked really… perplexed.” Lia whispered, her forehead now resting on his chest.
“Because doing this will put you in so much danger, Lia.” Marcus replied, resting his chin on her head. “I don’t want you to get hurt.”
“And I don’t want to get hurt, but it can’t be helped.” She sighed. She pulled away, looking up at him with a small smile on her face.
At that point, Marcus couldn’t help himself. He smashed his lips on hers.
She didn’t expect it, but she definitely welcomed it. Her mouth parted a little, and he wasted no time to delve his tongue into the crevices of her mouth. He slanted her head slightly, to give him better access, his hand dropped down to her neck, sending shivers down her spine, and heat seemed to grow from the places he had touched, going straight down to her abdomen. His other hand had travelled to her lower back, pulling her closer to him.
A sound come out from her, from deep within her and she was quite surprised. Was that, a moan?
A groan from Marcus, and suddenly, they’re on the bed and it didn’t help at all that she was simply dressed in a loose shirt, which had ridden up to her upper thighs. Somehow, his body was between her legs, his arms were on either side of her, holding him up and her arms managed to make their way to his back in an attempt to bring him even closer.
He pulled away to breathe, but Marcus went right to kissing along her jaw and neck. Her breathing was fast and her face was flushed and she was quite sure that she’d never wanted anything more in her life than how much she wanted Marcus at that moment. Her knees were slightly bent, and one of her hands found its way into Marcus’ hair, keeping him close to her body.
She felt him chuckle on her collarbone, and it sent the vibrations right down.
“Oh, God,” she whispered, desire starting to cloud through her. If she was like this already, then how was he doing?
His hand started to trail upwards from her knee, causing her to jerk her hips to his. He groaned into her skin and pulled away. She pulled him up by his jaw, kissing him once again. His hand was resting on her bare stomach, and she instinctively wrapped her legs around his waist. Her hands, shaking, went to his shirt collar, and started looking for the buttons of his shirt.
Once she was able to unbutton the first one, she pulled away to unbutton the rest of his shirt. Marcus’ hand came and caught hold of hers.
She looked up at his face, confused. “Marcus?”
