Pete Mitchell had his sea green eyes set in the woman that stood in front of him. Anger clearly on her face as her hazel eyes iris' flashes with anger that made her eyes flash brighter for a second before darkening again as if a storm had started clouding them and the thunder was the trembling of her hand that had slapped him while lightening was the worry flashing through it.

"Sweetheart?" Maverick asked in a whisper, taking her hand into his and bringing it to his lips. Kissing the back of her fingers while he kept his eyes on her. The storm slowly clearing with every lingering kiss against the back of her hand.

"You haven't called me that in years," Celine whispered as Pete stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist. He pulled her more into him, hoping to have their bodies melt into another so that he would not have to let her go. Celine wrapped her arms around his neck without caring that everyone was looking at them, they were an unusual couple and yet they seemed to fit perfectly together like puzzle pieces. "For a second I was really scared, Mitchell."

"I am sorry," Maverick whispered as he pulled away from her, his going to her cheeks and brushing them with his own ash gloved. A soft chuckle left Celine as she felt the touch of the burned material on her cheek, her smile showing her teeth a bit before she pressed her lips to the cheek of the man standing in front of her, the man she loved more than the skies if it were not for them loving the sky and flying equally. "Come sit."

"We should get back to base," Celine whispered to Pete as he pulled her down into the booth, taking her helmet and settling it down next to his own at the end of the table with a soft smile that he did not wear lots of times in public. Their call signs stared at them and yet neither of them seemed to care after Maverick wrapped his arm around her shoulder, bringing a giggle to leave her lips.

"They can wait."

"Everyone thinks you're dead!" Celine exclaimed with wide eyes as she quickly turned her head to him. Her hair flying into his face and making him laugh as he brushed the bit of blonde hair that stayed in front of her shoulder behind her ear, brushing his thumb over her cheek again to clear her off the streak of ash he had made her be left with. Their caring moment was interrupted by a way younger voice that sounded high pitched but belonged to the red-haired boy sitting on the other side of the booth.

"Who are you?" the boy asked, his eyes wide and rapidly blinking at the woman that now sat in front of him as if he had never seen his mother. Celine opened her mouth to reply with an obvious answer but got stopped by a hand that covered her mouth. Pete knew her well enough to know that she was blunt, honest and had no clue when to be a bit more sensitive to other people if it is not him.
