Madelyn

"Madelyn!" Stella's careful yell and shake of my body pulled me from my bloody dream with a scream.

Nightmares. I was met with two pairs of concerned-freaky eyes the second i opened my eyes.

"I'm sorry we are waking you this way but you have to see this." Stella hesitated eying me tentatively. "Do not freak out." Kiara warned handing me the phone cautiously.

I took a few moments to adjust before taking the phone from her.

Staring back at me was a website with "Daisy's Tea" written on top, the headline of the announcement "Daisy's new student, the secret daughter of Aaron and Kylie Levine! Find more about the Levines as Adam Waytt reveals their secrets as Madelyn's official ex-boyfriend."

The title was enough to jolt me awake better than any caffeine could ever do.

What. The. Fuck?

This has to be some kind of sick joke.

I sat up and started scrolling down further skipping the introduction, at the end of the page was a live video of some lame-ass student questioning a smug-looking Adam about my family.

Motherfucker.

The next thing i know i was outside starting the car.

"Madelyn wait we're going to fix this!" Kiara yelled but i was already in the driveway.

I'm going to show that motherfucker who he's messing with.

I kept pushing through the students ignoring their obvious whispers till I reached the camera in the hallway.

"How many people are in this live?" I gritted to the cameraman that looked ready to run if needed.

"Two thousand.."

"Get the hell out of here before I teach two thousand people how to break a nose." I turned to the student-reporter.

"Oh look who joined us the dau-" I took a few steps, standing face to face to him.

"I. Said. Get. Out." He was about to protest before the camera man walked away with a terrified expression when i shot him a glare. "Traitor." He mumbled before following his friend.

I will take care of the video on the website later, for now I needed to remind Adam what Madelyn Levine is.

"Well well well if it's not the one and only Levine." Adam leaned against the locker his voice dripping with smugness.

The smug expression disappeared the second I pulled him by his hair like a dog walked by a leash to the nearest empty classroom feeling the weight of the stare of a pair of certain stormy icy grey eyes.

"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" His back hit the wall with a thud when I pinned him.

"What? I'm helping out people figure who you are. Who you really are. Madelyn levine. Not the new girl. The type of your family. " he made dramatic gestures with his hands.

"We have the greatest daughter that even her parents can't acknowledge her in our campus. The daughter of Aaron and Kylie Levine! You know i would show off but rumor has it they kept her a secret because she's crazy. Now that you look at it, I can definitely see it als-"

He didn't get to complete that sentence when my fist collided with his face.

Again and again and again and again.

Till my vision turned blurry, my hand felt numb and the screams around me drifted further.

I'm helping people figure out who you are.

Madelyn Levine.

They kept her secret.

The daughter of Aaron and Kylie Levine.

Even her parents can't acknowledge her.

She's crazy.

When you feel too much anger breathe. Imagine yourself in your most peaceful state and breathe.

Jay's voice echoed through my mind.

Breathe, Madelyn.

Breathe.

Breathe? We can do that. C'mon just fucking get your shit together for once. Get out of your violent haze, asshole. The voice in my mind taunted.

The moment my vision cleared, there was too much blood I thought I was having a nightmare again I almost screamed.

Adam.

Me.

Blood.

His nose was flooding pools of blood.

My hands was covered in it.

"Madelyn stop please." Kiara's broken plea brought my attention to her face, tears streaming on it. Next to her, Stella and Jade staring at me with horrified expressions.

I'm a monster.

I'm a monster.

I'm a monster.

I AM A MONSTER.

I turned back to Adam who despite being a bloody mess still managed to pull a smug expression on his face.

"You're just proving who you are, Madelyn. A Levine. And you know who the Levines are." Smugness and amusement dripped from every word despite being covered in blood.

BREATHE. DON'T PUNCH AGAIN.

"You're right. I'm crazy. Keep away from me or I'll kill you." I allowed the cold, smile to creep up my face.

With boiling rage and hazy mind, I let Adam go, walking away.

Do I feel like shit? Yes but you don't let people see emotion.

People are dogs, once they see someone showing any emotion they latch into it like a bone thinking they're better than him.

It's how the cycle of life that works. Like a forest. You either eat or get eaten.

And emotion is one of the factors that'll get you eaten.

Every step echoes through the hallway powerful, strong, demanding respect. Head held high and not an ounce of shame or any emotion shown.

Standing at the same place I left him, my biggest nightmare.

Gazing at me with a hint of pride swirling in cold grey storms.

Almost.

When everyone even my own friends were looking at me with fear and shock.

When I felt like a monster.

He out of all people looked fucking proud of me?

The possibility made something warm and ugly spread itself in my chest, chewing my insides in and spitting them out.

The familiarity of the face standing in front of me and the one haunting me being maddening. I snapped out of it at the soft breeze hitting my face in the garden.

He wasn't there the whole time.

It was only a second of a mere eye-contact.

A second that sent my mind spiraling and pulled at my fear strings.
