Chapter 2 Revised - wangzisworks translation

~

The entire journey, the two companions and driver were enraptured by the rhythmical ups and downs of the romance tragedy of a lifetime.

When Jiang Luo was working, he would listen to his clients' nagging every day, with the lives of some of them being even more melodramatic than TV dramas. His eloquence, as well, originated from dealing with those parties over and over again. After borrowing from both the content of TV dramas and the stories his clients told him, Jiang Luo refined a complete outline of his tale, and began to perform.

From when he loved me, and I didn't love him. From when he chased after me, and I couldn't put up with him. Up until he died, after which I realized that I had fallen in love with him a long time ago.

The story was filled with sorrows and joys, with compassion and cruelty. Even the elderly driver who had been listening to stand-up radio subtly turned down the volume, pricking up his ears to listen in on Jiang Luo's tale.

"...When Chi You was a teaching assistant in our school, he took me to the office to make up a lesson after class. He then took me running all over campus, saying it was to improve my feng shui abilities. I thought that he was trying to deliberately embarrass me."

Jiang Luo leaned on the back of his chair, his whole person covered in shadow, with melancholy pouring from his fair and clear visage.

"He confessed to me that day, and I turned around and left... who could have imagined that right after I left, he would die?"

Lu Youyi suddenly realized, "No wonder you scolded Chi You over, and over, and over, and over again every day, I thought you were just jealous of him."

Jiang Luo said to himself, how could it be anything but jealousy?

While the original owner of the body was jealous of Chi You's innate talent, at the same time Chi You wasn't actually as gentle or kindhearted as others thought. After class he would repeatedly torment the original character with an ever-present smile. On the surface it seemed to be a make-up class, but Chi You would expose his true colors without even batting an eyelid.

The original owner had no ability whatsoever, but at the same time was proud and arrogant, harboring particular narrow-minded views. Seeing himself being incapable of doing what Chi You could do effortlessly caused his spirit to distort more and more with each passing day, his hatred for Chi You growing ceaselessly.

A bitter smile plastered on his face, Jiang Luo shook his head, "Recalling it now, what'd I give to go back to those times..."

As soon as his voice fell, an ominous wind abruptly hit the window, the gale like a sharp sword whistled past the pane of glass. Jiang Luo was startled, and raising his hand he saw that a layer of goosebumps had already instinctively appeared on his pale arms.

He turned his head and looked out the window.

Dark clouds were bursting overhead, and the small trees dotting the roadside, with trunks as thin as an adult's wrist, were being pitifully blown to pieces by the wind and rain. Raindrops streaked across the car, and then, windows unable to bear the amount of water, slowly dripped inside the vehicle.

The transparent raindrops gradually changed into a vermillion color, similar to that of a drop of blood, implying the deterioration of the living.

A droplet just so happened to land on the tip of Jiang Luo's brow.

Jiang Luo's face was indifferent, he retracted his gaze and raised his eyes, looking into the rearview mirror. Reflected within the mirror was only the three of them and the taxi driver sitting up front—no evil spirits present.
