It was a clear and sunny day on the elementary playground, kids were playing, climbing the jungle gym, skipping rope. One boy in particular was hanging in the middle of the monkey bars, not moving. He enjoyed to just hang there before claiming one of the swings as his for the rest of recess.

This day was a little different, instead of all the kids simply going around him, one went above. She was smiling down at him from her position above the bars. One of the teachers was yelling at her to get down.

Chandler thought this girl was odd. Why would she go above the bars? Finally, the girl spoke to him, "You're a little weird" she said, giggling as if it were a big joke.

"Well, so are you!" Chandler yelled at her. She gave him a look before slipping through the bars and hanging in front of him.

"I'm April, and I was born in April!" She smiled at him, he really didn't care much about who she was, he rolled his eyes and jumped down from the bars before heading to the swings. She followed him claiming the other swing. "What's your name?"

"None of ya'" Chandler answered. She looked confused.

"Why would your parents give you such a horrible name!" She giggled, swinging herself higher and higher. Chandler ignored her, every boy knew, girls had coddies. He didn't want to catch them.

Recess was declared over by a teacher ringing a bell, all the kids ran inside, Chandler taking his time. "Chandler, hurry up, please!" A teacher yelled at him. The girl right in front of him turned around, gasping.

"You lied! Your name isn't horrible! It's Chandler!" Chandler rolled his eyes at April. She grabbed his hand pulling him up the stairs, "You and I are going to be best friends!"

That day sparked years of friendship between the two, that continued into adulthood.

Thanksgiving, April's favorite holiday. She loved it, all the food, her whole family getting together. She just couldn't get enough of it. This Thanksgiving was different, Chandler had horrible news coming his way, and while the James family were smiling and enjoying the festivities, the Bing family were not. Chandler's parents were getting divorced!

Once he had gotten the news, he asked his mother if he could use the phone. April's mother, Debbie, answered and then passed the phone to April. "I hate Thanksgiving" was the first words he said to her, her brows furrowed, how could he hate Thanksgiving?
