"how would you guys like a tour?" Fred smiled at Nai.
Nai stared daggers at Fred, she was painfully aware of how hot his gaze felt on her skin but she wasn't going to back down and let him win.
Addison cleared her throat and stepped forward " That sounds like a lovely idea, why don't you start by showing us where the bathroom is" she interjected.
Nai seemed to snap out of the staring contest that she was having with Fred. " It would be our pleasure, right this way is where you can find the bathrooms" George stepped forward starting the tour.
The four students walked down the halls, Addison and George chatting with each other as they went along.
"so you have been here six years and you still don't know every room and tunnel in the castle" Addison laughed.
"Hey, it's a huge castle and it is constantly moving," George said pointing up at the moving staircases above them.
"wow, it's beautiful" Addison looked up in awe. As the marble staircase moved through the air. The whole room was captivating, filled with talking paintings and floating candles it was vastly different from Texas.
"Yes it is..." He stared back gallantly, but it does make sneaking out to parties a pain in the ass." George huffed
"so what's it like living in Texas, do you live on a farm and square dance or whatever you hicks do? " Fred chuckled nudging Nai.
"No, we live on a ranch" Nai responded in a monotone voice not entertaining his childish mockery.
George moved in between the girls with wide eyes and a devilish grin "With horses, that's bloody amazing"
"yeah, it is pretty cool. Addison laughed. We mostly take care of the horses and cattle and get em ready for the rodeos and stuff. It's so much different here than in Texas, no sweltering heat and drunken old guys wishing to get lucky."
"Do you miss Texas?" George said empathetically turning to Addison
"Yes and no...I love the West with the rolling clouds and red clay plains. You can just get lost in it there is something so pure about being out there it feels like true freedom. But it is also very isolating, it's just you and the stars out there."
"So you guys are stereotypical Americans, what a shock" Fred laughed.
"And you are a stereotypical ginger" Nai Smiled.
Fred pulled a face "What do you mean by that?"
"well you seem to have no soul" Nai said earning a slap to the arm by Addison.
"would you shut up" Addison whispered before turning back to George excitedly, "where to next"
the four walked around for a while, George and Addison chatting about the classrooms and what teachers to not piss off, while Nai and Fred bickered amongst themselves.
"you know you are very close to being a ginger too" Fred frowned.
"and yet, I'm not" Nai smiled proudly.
"This is the library, there is a book in there for almost anything you could think of" George pointed out. The library smelled of dingy old parchment but was riddled with long oak tables and more books than words in the dictionary. Students were sprinkled throughout sifting through pages of books that looked heavier than Nai herself.
Addison instantly knew she would like it here. Tracing her finger over the dusted covers and spines of books that had definitely existed long before she was born.
