Darkness.
Darkness is all she saw and all he felt.
"One", she barely whispered, "Two", he remembered all his good moments. "Three", all she wanted was for it to end, "Four", all he wanted was for everything to end. "Five" she felt herself being caught by something, "Six", he felt himself slowly slipping away. "Seven", she heard some noises, "Eight" the noises scared him. "Nine" she felt relieved, "Ten" he felt himself suffocating. The atrocities of sunlight had Jose waking up. His eyes fluttered open and were shut closed by the glare. Something lapped on him, his eyes snapped open as he flinched away. Loud barks echoed around, he tried to run, to hide. He tried to move but his limbs fell limp. He cried out helplessly but a croak followed.
As the dog closed the distance between them he felt it.
------------------------------------------------------Cold. "Hmm.. Cool is nice", she thought. Sticky cool stuff, hmm, she wondered what it possibly could be but the sensations were too soothing for her to open her eyes. Warmth crawling down her legs, Sahana felt her muscles go lax. More warmth cradling her arms! Nice! A soft hymn lulled her back to deep sleep.

Madira looked at the girl, now lying in her bed chambers. She looked lost almost innocent.
Just a while ago her neighbors ran towards the shore.
Madira used to mind her own business and mostly kept herself away from the village's issues.
This time she felt something inside her move, as if a strong otherworldly tug in her heart. Following her instincts she ran to the shore. There she was, a girl, not a day more than sixteen. She looked pale almost lifeless tangled in the fishermen's net. To the villagers surprise, she bent down to her, lifted her pruny palm and felt the pulse beating on her wrist. Relieved, she took her into her arms and began walking off when he stopped her.
"Who are you eh?" He questioned. "Don't mess with me right now Ale!", She countered. "You shall take the girl nowhere with you" Ale declared. "I shall do whatever I think is to be done, move aside", like the gentleman he was he moved aside and made the way for her but not before adding, " It's a village you know, we decide what is to be done and then do things accordingly, you haven't been a part of it for far too long, you wouldn't understand now would you?", She glared back at him "I have my own reasons".She was thankful for Ale's intrusion. If not for him the villagers wouldn't have let her take the girl so soon, beside, by the look of it she needed some tending.
Now as she looked at the girl she let herself dwell over the past, where she used to follow her papa around the village often stopping by for small talks and very often a big lunch.
They had always lived by the beach, because her papa found solace there while she often dreamed by it. She would go to school and sit beside Ale, because he was her best friend- no, not best friend instead batman best friends. They swore on a nearby den by the cliff, come what may they'll always stick together.
Then she turned twenty and things got worse. Her father never came back, and everything fell apart. She didn't know anymore how did she survive these four years. The people helped her, they made her a part of their families and their lives. Tania made her lunch or kaka stopped by to give her some fruits or milk. The walks and cycle rides is all that made the years pass by. But she never asked them for their help! She never thanked them! Never appreciated them! If at all she cut herself off all the ties while they still held theirs. She felt this heavy weight in the back of her throat. What was this she wondered, moreover where did these thoughts come from!
Guilt washed all over her and left her drenched!

Frightened he felt his heart beating fast, he was afraid of dogs why was no one here! Where was he! Were there people here?!The dog crooked his head and watched the human in amazement. There was something foreign in his eyes! Something he never saw before! The human felt strangely cold under his paws! He looked scared! Almost like him when a car chased him down the street last night! He felt something for the human and licked his hands to re-assure him, but he flinched away. He got scared, thought he would hit him or scare him away like some humans did. But he looked different than them and so the dog flashed his million dollar smile!
Jose looked down at the dog in clear disbelief as he gently licked the back of his palm. He flinched away and the dog looked scared for a while. "Hell", he thought, he was scared shitless! What was this dog scared of. Suddenly he saw the dog smiling a genuine smile.
And so he knew he was home. He reluctantly reached for the dogs neck and the dog too slowly climbed upon him and closed the distance in a hearty hug!
