Chapter 10: Unending Requiem

After over half a decade, Wolfgang now in his early twenties, has been working alongside Caterina with the R.A.D.I.O crew, rebelling against the King. Robbing from his stashes, armories, and kitchens, and giving it to those in more dire need. Things felt good for Wolfgang, as he mostly interacted with the locals, finding information for potential heist locations. He learned to better interact with people, and even grew much closer to Caterina than he originally intended, he began to feel flustered whenever she was around him. Of course the others noticed and teased him for it, as they often do, making him feel more and more like he belongs with them.

Things were not sunshine and rainbows, as they began to find Wanted Posters with old sketches of Wolfgang before he left home. Claiming him as a murderer and wanted dead or alive for a hefty price, it disgusted him that his parents would go that far. Wolfgang did not let that worry him, as most of the crew tore down the wanted posters, and kept his identity a secret. Thankfully, with their actions, the locals never knew what the person looked like, and never could make a report.

Wolfgang was eventually invited to join them on a heist, as they needed an extra pair of hands, and wanted to get his boots on the ground. As to which all went well, he didn't mess it up for them, and they made a big score of pies that they gave to starving children. Wolfgang was filled with a sense of fulfillment and happiness unlike any he has ever experienced. However, things changed after a heist went wrong.

A few got captured and, without awaiting trial, were executed. This seemed to change Caterina, as she started being ruthless towards them, acting like a drill sergeant to her crew. Their heist started to change as well, as now they attack armories hosting weapons given to the Royal Army. Using explosives that Wolfgang recognized back when he first met the crew. When he pressured some members to inquire about this revelation, they revealed they once used it at a local barracks, but thought the explosives were too strong. This started to enrage Wolfgang as he began to question if Caterina still holds on to a moral compass.

When he approached her about what they were doing now, she started telling him plans for another job, where they needed Wolfgang to pull off something he knows how to do; Murder. This disgusted him, as he felt like she truly believes the lies his parents spread about him. After calling her out, she says that if they do this one job, then they can leave. Wolfgang inquired, "Who's the target?" in a voice that sounded tired, and hurt. To which she responded with, in a strained tone.

"The King's Infant Heir"

This broke Wolfgang, as he stormed out without another word, as the mere thought of harming an infant child, whether it is the king's or not, completely broke his moral code. Caterina pleaded with him that she needed him to do this, to which he told her that he will give it some thought. Wolfgang decided to sleep on his decision, where he found it to be very difficult due to the serious and ethically wrong choice he has to make. After playing his Ocarina for a little bit to ease his nerves, he found himself drifting fast asleep.
