Meeting with Caterina, he discussed with her that he will not be going through with her insane idea, believing she lost sight of their goals in favor of vengeance. Caterina did not like what Wolfgang had to say, calling him a hypocrite, and various other things. She could not bring herself to look him in the eyes, as she sat down, Wolfgang tried to comfort her, telling her they can come up with a new idea. She calmed down and asked him to give her some space, which he respectfully did, unaware of what she was thinking of doing.

Some time later that day, Wolfgang was heading back to his living quarters after buying some food, when he saw a crowd of people with pitchforks and torches, right by his home. Looking at them, he discerned they were rather angry looking people, asking them what they are doing, barring his home. They began asking if he is Wolfgang Artifex, to which he cautiously asked why? The crowd began to part as he saw a pair of figures he thought he would never see again, his parents.

Houdini looked as if he hasn't stopped drinking, even his clothes began looking raggedy, as if he was homeless. Marilyn started smelling like cigars, and her age caught up to her, gray hair started covering her once blonde hair. They started pointing at him, regarding him as the monster who killed their children. The crowd began cornering him as he managed to climb over the building. With no other place to hide, he went to Caterina's place, telling her the situation as she offered to walk and talk with him to the riverbank.

As they discussed, Caterina offered him a swing of water from her canteen, which he accepted after all the running he did. Wolfgang began to notice that she did not seem surprised that his parents found, nor that they knew where exactly he lived. He began to think that someone told them where he was, someone he trusted enough with his name, someone he might have wronged recently. Before this could process in his head, he started feeling woozy, as he felt familiar hands push him into the river, falling in the water and flowing down as his mind began to drift to sleep.
