I stepped into one of the multi-story buildings in front of me. In my hand was a bouquet of flowers, almost half my body size. I know that Haira must also be fed up with my apologies. But honestly, I couldn't if I didn't get back with her.
My hand slowly pressed the button on the elevator leading to the floor where Haira's office was. I didn't expect much; I just wanted to have a good talk with her without emotions or bad feelings. What's more, I really miss her.
When I arrived at the floor I was going to, I rushed to the receptionist and calmly told them the purpose of my arrival. Not long after I sat down on the sofa, I saw a figure I recognized but who was the last person I wanted to meet.
Pradipta.
I clicked my tongue.
"What do you need here?"
I looked at him; I didn't even have the energy to argue with him.
"I want to meet Haira."
He looked back at me with an unpleasant look. There was a concerned expression in his eyes. "Sorry, but Mbak Haira is really busy, she didn't go to the office today because she had something to take care of, so I rarely even see her."
I couldn't believe it and was about to dare him to take me to Haira's room when he hurriedly added. "You can go to her room and ask her secretary if you don't believe it."
I could feel my body going limp.
"Recently, she has been working too hard; she often skipped meals, and her anger sometimes feels out of place. I don't know why either." Pra added what was in his head regarding his worries about Haira.
I gulped. It seemed that Haira hadn't told anyone close to her about her decision to break off her engagement with me.
My hand tightened around the bouquet of flowers in my lap.
"Is that for her?" He asked, pointing at the bouquet I had been hugging with his chin.
I nodded before handing the bouquet to him. "How is Haira doing at the office?"
He shrugged. "Yeah, some people still don't like the fact that she will run all the businesses that Pak Danu inherited. But on the other hand, there are also many people who support her because of the potential that she has." He smiled wryly. "What's sad is how her family and those closest to her don't appreciate her efforts and abilities."
He sighed. "Hopefully the new hotel project will truly show her true potential."
I knew how busy they were from how the office buzzed with pre-launch jitters. Phones were ringing off the hook, and everyone seemed to be moving at double speed.
"Alright," I said, trying to keep my voice heard over the din, "give me the lowdown on Haira's new hotel concept." I smiled. "I was curious because she didn't tell me."
I lied.
Obviously, Haira didn't want to tell me because she had nothing else to tell me.
Pra gave me a dazzling smile. "It's going to be incredible. I know she and Mbak Andra will create an extraordinary concept. We've got these muted tones, a warm and light feeling when you go to sleep, accompanied by a glass of warm honey lemon or stories before bed."
I frowned.
"She just wants to make it more than just a hotel; it's a portal to your most cherished moments." He looked at me before gently rubbing his chin, seeing the indescribable reaction on my face. "She said we need to imagine a place where the lobby whispers stories of first dances, the scent of lavender evokes peace and lullabies to sleep, and she also asked that as the guests enter the restaurant, a melody from their first date wafts through the air, a familiar comfort that instantly melts away the stress of travel."
