As I parked the car in the basement parking lot of Haira's apartment building, my heart thudded against my chest. A palpable reminder of the strained relationship between us. Deep down, I knew I had to make things right, to mend the cracks that had formed in our once unbreakable bond.
The rain was still falling outside, causing wet ruts on the basement floor. As I stepped out of the car, I spotted Haira getting out of the elevator and walking towards her car, which I easily recognized.
"Ra." I called her. Loud enough to cause an echo there.
"Jendra," she said, her voice laced with a mixture of anger and hurt. "What are you doing here?"
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts, before stepping closer to her. "Haira, we need to talk," I said, my voice steady but filled with remorse. Our habit has always been to call our real names when we are arguing or discussing something serious. "I need to make things right between us."
She scoffed, her eyes narrowing. "Make things, right?" she spat. "You think a simple apology can fix everything?"
I winced at her words, realizing the depth of the pain I had caused. "No. I know it's not that simple," I replied, my voice tinged with regret. "But I need to start somewhere."
"Does it have to be now?"
My heart sank further as her words washed over me. "Haira, I'm so sorry," I said, my voice filled with a desperation to make her understand. "I've talked to Rara, and I don't want my closeness to her to ruin our relationship."
She looked at me. "Jendra, this isn't just about yesterday," she said, her voice tinged with both pain and vulnerability. "It's about the fact that you lied to me, remember?"
I swallowed hard, the weight of her words settling heavily on my shoulders. "You're right, Haira," I admitted, my voice laced with regret. "I lied to you. But I want to change that. I want to be there for you, to rebuild what we've lost."
Silence hung in the air between us, the tension slowly dissipating as we stood there, two souls longing for healing.
"We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I don't have time right now."
"Ra, please." I held her hand, preventing her from leaving. "I want to resolve this misunderstanding now, you can't be angry with me like this."
"Then what should I do?!" She screamed. "You said you already told that woman; okay, then what should I do? I'm still hurt, Jen, I didn't expect you to lie to me, even though if you told me, I wouldn't be angry because I believe you. But now it's like this. Who am I supposed to believe?"
She sobbed in front of me. I couldn't see it that way. I was not that strong. Without hesitation, I leaned in and captured her lips with mine, the taste of her filling my senses. Our bodies pressed against each other, the heat between us intensifying with each passing second. I could feel the weight of our past mistakes melting away as our tongues danced in a passionate embrace.
"Jen, stop." She turned her head away.
"No. I want you to know how much I miss you, Ra, I can't." My hands found their way to her waist, pulling her even closer; our bodies molded together as one. "Open your car door." I whispered in her ear, making her body tremble in my arms.
"Nggak mau!"
She was angry. But I looked at her closely before kissing her again. Making her stop struggling and accept my kiss. Cupping her hand on my cheek, deepening our kiss.
